Home Tour: Homes (Continued from page 7) 501 W ENCANTO Year Built: 1940 Style: Traditional Early Ranch Homeowner: Greg and Autumn Lew This early Rancher was part of the infill development of the Broadmoor Subdivision and was thought to be influenced by the Monterey Ranch style. It includes a low- pitched gabled roof with exposed rafters with purlins, brick construction, and a shed roof entry with wood posts. The chimney is uniquely incorporated into the facade of the house. The home has been updated and remodeled such that the current master bath has the vintage milk door where the kitchen or pantry once stood. The present owners believe the new master suite sits in the space where there was once a breezeway/laundry room. The pool, privacy walls, and front planters date to the 1990s. The interior renovations give this home an open contemporary feel while preserving the original flow and charm intrinsic to the design of the home. The owners have decorated the home with an eye to unique, well-designed pieces that combine Mid-Century Modern and Danish styling, including a Jack Lenor Larson sofa in the living room and a 1978 Curtis Jere “Raindrops” sculpture on the dining room wall. ● 8 / I N S I D E W I L LO

Inside Home Tour: Volunteers HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD Calling All Volunteers BY L I S A N AC C A R ATO ( PA L M L A N E ) OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE IN WILLO was the 2019 Willo Home Tour. We’d just bought our home and had not yet moved in, but we were excited to attend and meet our new neighbors. Many things were going on that day, not just the tours of the homes, but live music, the street fair, food trucks, and people gathered around the park, the beer tent, and front porches. Then we learned that the entire event was planned and run by Willo neighborhood volunteers! We knew that day we were home. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE HOME TOUR A SUCCESS? WE NEED YOU! We are reaching out to our Willo neighbors to volunteer and participate in the 2022 Home Tour.
