JOYFULLY SHARING GOD’S BOUNDLESS LOVE WITH ALL IN OUR COMMUNITY WITHOUT LIMITATION, EXCEPTION, OR CONDITION JANUARY 23, 2022 11 AM Contemporary Service
2 + WELCOME TO UPC + Welcome to our 11 a.m. worship service. We hope you make yourself feel at home. The baskets on each table contain contact cards, giving envelopes, pens & pencils, and some crayons. The restrooms are out the door and to the right along the corridor. New to UPC? For more information about our church, fill out a blue Connection Card located in the baskets on the tables and drop it by the Welcome Center on your way out. Or complete a Connection Card digitally at upcfresno.org/ connect. The 9 a.m. gathering is a traditional service with a choir and organ located in our Sanctuary. The 11 a.m. gathering is a contemporary service featuring a casual atmosphere and a band in the Great Room. Our Lao Language service meets at 11 a.m. in the Lao Worship Room for worship, a sermon and prayer. Children in Worship Here at UPC, we value children being a part of our faith community and not an accessory to it. Children are welcome to stay in worship with us and sing, dance, clap, draw, and move about as they feel comfortable, or participate in Godly Play, our Montessori based children's ministry that takes place during the 11am service. Children’s Bulletins are available at the Welcome Center. There is a Family Room located at the back of the Sanctuary with a changing table, toys for the kids, and windows and audio. We also have a Nursery (across the Courtyard) for children from birth to age 4. Current Sermon Series: “Things Jesus Never Said” To begin the new year, we're holding contemporary Christian culture up to the light of Jesus's life and teaching. It's always hardest to see the water we're swimming in, but encountering Jesus has the power to wake us up. Join us for the sermon series January 9-February 27. COVID-19 Precautions. Out of an abundance of love, we are asking that individuals 2+ remain masked throughout our worship services. Additional precautions including limiting physical contact, increased ventilation and rigorous cleaning procedures are being followed so that all members of our community can have a safe and meaningful worship experience with us today. For updates about our Covid precautions, be sure to join our mailing list at upcfresno.org/email.

Ephesians 6:10-20 (New Revised Standard Version) The Whole Armor of God 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our[a] struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. 15 As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. 16 With all of these,[b] take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,[c] 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak. Worship Team: Rev. Renn Serna, Senior Pastor; Rev. April Alkema, Associate Pastor of Creative & Digital Ministries; and Rev. Amanda Nevin, Pastor of Adult Ministries.
