Maine coons may be cute but they are big cats.
They can way up to 30 LBS. They can get very long. They
are family cats and very playful. You might want to be
                            careful if you have another
cat. There fur is made for the
                            winter. Maine Coons like to
show how they feel doing cute
stuff. They like to mimic other
                            animals. Maine Coons like
                            water more than other cats
                            do. Maine Coons are like
gentle and loving giants to cat breed. They also have a M
on their head. That is how you tell if they are a Maine
Coon.
How to take care of a Maine Coon: Maine Coons are very
fluffy. Not all Maine Coons shed. But if yours does then
you need to brush it because if you don’t you will
probably have lots of fur on your chairs, blankets and
your clothes too. Make sure you pet your Maine Coon.
Now remember Maine Coons love to play and they are
really big.

Have you heard of a Canada Lynx? They have
long tufts of fur in their ears! They also have an
appearance that looks close to what a Bobcat looks like.
Interesting right? I’ve been wondering why their tails are
short and bobbed. About sentence number 2: I’m curious.
Why do they have long tufts in the ears? Anywho, Canada
Lynxes have hind legs larger than their front legs. Their
mating season is March and April. Their litter size is 1-5
kittens! While hunting the Canada Lynx targets Snowshoe
Hares. Canada Lynxes don’t build their own dens. They
use shelter like things that are already there. Canada
Lynxes don’t just eat snowshoe hares. They also eat Voles,
Mice, and more! This is a Canada Lynx:

          Tornado Safety: Do’s and Don'ts
By: Austin Chiesi and Brian Baker
You may think that this isn’t a useful article because we have hardly any
tornados here, but it is a possibility. This is extremely important if you are
in tornado alley, an area that stretches from Central Texas to South
Dakota and sometimes going all the way through Iowa, Missouri, Illinois,
and Indiana to western Ohio. Remember, tornados can be unpredictable,
                                 so play it safe.

                                                   Do’s
        ● If you’re in a car, get out and go into a ditch or low ground, if
there’s no low ground, keep your seatbelt on and cover yourself
with whatever possible, and make sure to cover your neck, too.

        ● If your house doesn't have a basement, go to a room near or at
the center of the house on the lowest floor without any windows
          or glass.

        ● If there is a tornado watch in your area, make sure you have
your designated shelter ready with supplies (Flashlight, playing
          cards, blankets, shoes, etc.)
        ● Also, have a wind-up or battery powered radio to get the latest
news on the weather if a tornado hits.

                                      Don’ts

                                            Number 2
     ● Ok, don’t EVER go under an underpass when a
tornado is near you because there’s a wind tunnel and can
make it even more dangerous than if you were outside the
underpass, the tornado could send flying debris into the
        underpass.
     ● Don’t underestimate a tornado, as it can scoop your car or
YOU into the air if you try to drive/run away, but, a word of
advice: if you have time, find the nearest shelter and go to the
lowest floor with no windows(or, a bathroom)
● DON’T EVER ignore a tornado siren! If you hear one, get to the
nearest basement or bathroom immediately(and we’re not joking)!
● Don’t go out of your home after a tornado hits. Stay in your house
unless you need to leave immediately such as gas leak, fire, flood,
  carbon dioxide/monoxide leak, etc.

                          KEY WORD:
Carbon monoxide: Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless,
tasteless gas, and is toxic to animals with a lot of blood when it is
concentrated above 35 ppm, but it is made in normal animal digestive
  systems in small amounts.

                             Interesting Facts!

      Continued….On May 22nd, 2011, an EF5 tornado slammed to
Joplin, Missouri, and it was over a mile wide! The absolute monster
                             caused 151 deaths.

On May 31st, 2013 in El Reno, OK a tornado formed that
would soon make history, an EF3 tornado which grew to be 2.6
MILES wide and killed 8 people including 4 storm chasers, the only
recorded deaths that were SCs (Storm chasers).

NOTE: This is NOT a reason to be scared of tornadoes, these incidents
happen very rarely, and most tornadoes are EF0-1.

                  A New Kind Of Desert
We all know that in deserts
deserts, we can’t grow a lot of stuff. Since it doesn’t have
any fertile
fertile land, life there is tough. But chinese scientists
scientists are creating “ a new
kind of desert.” In Kubuqui, China ( desert), one-third of the desert is fertile.
Kubuqi is 35,000 square miles. Because of advanced technologytechnology ,farmers started to
grow licorice (herb). The licorice (herb) made a huge impact in the desert, it
enriched the sand and is making the land fertile. You can now grow over 70 kinds
of different plants. This project was started in 2013, it is called the Paris
Agreement. Life in the desert was really tough but now people have a house to
stay in, furniture, food to eat and clothes to wear. Before, they needed to migrate
from one area to another. But now… people have saved a lot of money, they
even have enough money for savings. Citizens and workers feel like the tough times
are over. Meng Baoyindaogetao is a local herder, he commented that... “ In the
past I had 200 sheep and goats. Now I have 700.” This proves that this invention invention
has helped many people lead a better life. This also leads to more food, more

                          Life Cycle of a Star
By: Raya Radoslavova and Shanthini Saravanan
Every star life cycle starts with a nebula. A nebula is an enormous cloud of
gases. The Hydrogen gas in the nebula starts to pull together and spin.
After it starts to spin it heats up and eventually it heats up to 15,000,000
degrees! When that happens, nuclear fission starts. The cloud starts to
glow brightly and contacts a little, and becomes stable. Now it is a main
sequence star. Our sun is a main sequence star. A main sequence star is
a star at its main part of its life. After a lot of time (the smaller the star the

more time it takes) the star will die. A star’s death is the last stage of its life
cycle. The bigger the star the more intense its death. That’s because
there’s more mass in a massive star.

                    Death of a Small Star
A small star like our sun will collapse. The outer layers will make a
planetary nebula. The center will become a white dwarf eventually
becoming a black dwarf.

                      Death of a Big Star
A big star has 2 possible choices for death. The first one is a neutron star,
the second one will become a black hole. The stars that will become into a
black hole are more massive than the ones that become a neutron star.

Before any of this will happen the stars will go under a
supernova explosion. Only the big stars go under the supernova explosion.

    Continued….Black Holes and Neutron
                  Stars
A black hole is a super dense place where not even light can escape. A
black hole’s gravity is super strong. Gravity is the force that pulls things
together. A black hole has a lot of gravity. Once you get past a certain
point called the event horizon you can’t escape. A neutron star is a super
dense too. Not as dense as a black hole but still dense. Most neutron
stars are pulsars. Pulsars are rotating neutron stars that have pulses of
radiation.

description of the ocean. Most water sports are
held in this zone. The water is hot because of the light.
    The Mesopelagic
Mesopelagic zone (a.k.a the twilight zone) there isn’t a
lot of light. The fish are weirder and black and red due to
    the lack of light.

When the blacks left the country life of slavery,
they lived in cities. They had a rough adjusting, since the north
did not allow slavery, but there was no law for racism, which
made their journey to become equals harder.

the snow, hot chocolate, and of course CHRISTMAS! Now I will stop typing so
that you can learn more about holidays.

Pearl Harbour Day:

Pearl Harbour Day is a day to remember the attack of Pearl Harbour on December 7
1941. Also there were 2,403 people who died in the attack. On the 7th we remember
those who died on that day. Japan brought America into World War 2 by attacking
Pearl Harbor, one of our naval bases. We lost about 200 of our aircrafts and a lot of
       battleships.

Christmas:
Christmas is on December 25 every year. When it originated it was a christian holiday.

You do not HAVE to be a christian to celebrate it. It is Jesus’ birthday. Ho, Ho, Ho.

Merry Christmas!

                                   Mauna Loa
                                      By :Kallon Payton

The Mauna Loa is an active volcano in Hawaii. It has been erupting
for 700,000 years, and may have emerged above sea level about 400,000
years ago the volcano's magma comes from the hawaii hot spot which has
been responsible for the creation of the Hawaiian island chain. In about
500,000 the slow drift of the pacific plate will eventually carry Mauna Loa
away from the hotspot within 500,000 to one million years from now at
which point it will become extinct. Mauna Loa's most recent eruption
occurred on march 24 to april 15 in 1926. No recent eruptions of the
volcano have caused fatalities but eruptions in 1926 and 1950 destroyed

earthquakes took place in the month of may but this is nothing out of the
ordinary. Today Mauna Loa is carefully monitored because Hawaii is a
popular place to go on a holiday and no one wants to be caught off -guard
by a volcano that's for sure!

                           World Series 2018
                                 By: Carter Harris

Back in 1903, the first World Series came to America. There has been a total of
115 World Series since 1903. The New York Yankees have won the most World
Series since 1903. They have won a total of 27 World Series. The history of the
World Series was fascinating. The World Series back in the early 1900s started
out pretty rough. It was hard to get everything ready on the day the World Series
starts. They had to make a trophy, hire workers. It was hard work back in the
days. Here is the review on the 2018 World Series!

The Red Sox win the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in
Game 5. That will add one to their total world series won. This is their 9th win.
Congrats to the Red Sox. But runner-up team, The Dodgers were the runner-up
two times in a row! But the Red Sox took victory for this year. But what will
happen next year? Will the Dodgers come back and win the world series or will
the Dodgers lose the world series again?
