Loughborough Football Strategy
   The football offer at Loughborough University is built upon a wider strategy aimed to deliver a world leading
provision for opportunity within football and enhance individuals capability of driving the development of the sport

Men’s Football
The men’s club is currently made up of four teams that
compete in BUCS, the competition provider for
university sport. Our teams compete in the top four
tiers of BUCS Football.

Our Men’s performance squad compete in the BUCS
Northern Premier division and BUCS Championship
with the 3 other men's teams competing directly in the
three leagues below along with knockout
competitions.

In addition to BUCS the men’s performance squad play
in the national non-league system at Step 5. This allows
the club to compete in the FA Cup and FA Vase.

From the 2020-21 season the development squad will
be competing in u21’s football as well as BUCS.

Women’s Football
Loughborough Students Women’s Football Club offers many competitive opportunities.
The performance team compete in the British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) Northern Premier League & BUCS championship KO cup.

When possible, players are also supported to play “external football” alongside the programme, most notably with our partner
Loughborough Foxes (Tier 3), but also other Tier 3 and Championship clubs.

AU Club
Loughborough Students Women's Football club have a further three
squads competing in BUCS.

Our teams currently compete in the following leagues:
2nd Team – BUCS League Midlands 2B & Midland's Conference KO Cup
3rd Team – BUCS League Midlands 2A & Midland's Conference KO Cup
4th Team – BUCS League Midlands 3B & Midland's Conference KO Cup

All teams have 2 team training sessions each week, as well as a futsal
session incorporated into the weekly schedule.

Women’s Performance
         Football
As a first team performance squad member you will receive expert
coaching, access to our world class facilities, heavily discounted
Powerbase gym membership, strength and conditioning training,
nutrition, sports science and sports medicine support. Within the
programme players also have access to Performance Lifestyle
support and our top athletes can apply for scholarships.

A Normal Week
• 2-3 Team training sessions (with additional 1 to 1 technical
  sessions).
• 2-3 Strength and Conditioning sessions (individual specific
  programmes).
• Team video analysis.
• Massage and physiotherapy.
• Nutrition support.
• Performance Lifestyle support.

Futsal
• The Men’s Futsal club is the most successful university futsal
  side in the UK with five championship wins, the most recent
  championship win saw back to back titles in the 2017-18 &
  2018-19 seasons.

• The men's club currently have four sides and the women's
  club have two that compete in BUCS.

• Loughborough Students Futsal Club also compete in the
  National Futsal Series with men’s first team in Tier 1 and
  development squad in Tier 2.

OFF-PITCH OPPORTUNITIES
As well as playing there are many opportunities to gain experience in the wider Loughborough football programme during
the studying of your degree. These opportunities are aimed at supporting students to gain practical experience in areas
they wish to pursue in their future careers.
As well as the above there are also opportunities in performance analysis, nutrition, psychology, event management &
Media.

  Leagues 6-a-side tournaments.
Coaching Opportunities

• CPD:
Opportunities to watch sessions and take part in workshops led
by specialist FA & Professional club coaches.
• Performance:
Head & Assistant coaching roles available within the men’s and
women's Club.
• Development:
Opportunities to coach with local community clubs and schools.
• Qualifications:
FA courses available through the Coach & Volunteer Academy.
