What is LEAD?
The LEAD Girls Summit was established in
2017 to connect young female athletes
with accomplished women in sports,
through our annual Summit.
An all-inclusive summit for teenage girl athletes
In 2017, the LEAD Girls Summit hosted 75 teenage
girls at the inaugural summit in Austin, TX.
The all-inclusive took place over three days
and two nights.
The girls were treated to a high-end
experience with the specific goal of empowering
teenage girl athletes with leadership, team
building and confidence skills.

Our mission at LEAD is to change the lives of
young female athletes by teaching, empowering
and cultivating an environment for leadership.
The LEAD Summit features over 20 different
sessions, activities, breakout groups, keynote
speeches, outdoor sessions, group workouts and
more. All sessions are led by a professional LEAD
mentor and Olympian.

The LEAD
Experience
In 2017, LEAD attendees experienced:

Mothers and fathers were invited to
                                attend an exclusive evening “Parent Social”
        LEAD                    and cocktail hour. Over 40 parents were
                                able to interact directly with the entire
      PARENT                    LEAD team and discuss important topics in
  SOCIAL                        their daughters’ lives, as well as say “thank
                                you” to all of the mentors and event
   NIGHT                        organizers for bringing LEAD to Austin.
                                Drinks and hors d’oeuvres were provided
                                by a local sponsor.

KARA LYNN JOYCE
The LEAD Sports Summit was founded in 2017 by 3-Time
Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce. Since retiring from competitive
swimming in 2012, Kara has pursued a career in coaching,
speaking and mentorship. Kara is sought out nationally to
emcee, moderate and speak about Women in Sports and
Women's Leadership. A common theme and passion
throughout her athletic career and professional journey has
been the mentorship and empowerment of young women.

Kara was inspired to create the LEAD Sports Summit to
develop an environment for young female athletes to
connect with strong female mentors.
