Message from Dr. Harlin
Good evening NHS families,
I hope you are staying safe with all of the flooding in Nolensville. Mill Creek is showing how powerful it can be
right now. As for last week, we had another great week at Nolensville High School. Students and teachers are
working hard in the classroom and finding their groove. Progress reports have been posted in the Skyward Family
Access portal.
As a staff, we recognize that students will need continued support in their academic work whether they are in
traditional/ remote learning or in Online Learning Program. Mr. Bryant Gunter, assistant principal at NHS, has
been assigned to work specifically with NHS OLP students and their families to help trouble shoot for any glitches
or help in communication to OLP teachers especially if those teachers are not part the NHS faculty. We appreciate
your feedback as we work to make this platform viable for our OLP students. We also have a math tutor, Mr. Scott
Henneberry, which student can access during study hall or homeroom Mondays through Thursdays. He is also
available to our WCS OLP students via Zoom. Ms. Ellen Browne, assistant principal at NHS, has been placed on
special assignment for two to three weeks with the district to provide additional support in helping teachers with the
Edginuity platform for our WCS Online Learning Platform. Dr. Rick Kriesky will be joining us as an interim
assistant principal while she is on special assignment. Please see below for contact information.
This week is Constitution Week at NHS. We typically have volunteers to assist our seniors who are 18 years old
with voter registration. Since voter drives are struggling to have volunteers, our Mr. Coggins can assist our students
with online registration. Please see details below.
Finally, I wanted to let everyone know that for all of our students except our seniors that Tuesday, Sept. 22 is
shaping up to be a Remote Learning Day for our students. We will be administering the ACT to Seniors on campus
that day while our underclassmen will have an asynchronous learning day. It is a mandatory test day for Seniors
since it is a graduation requirement. We will discuss more details with Seniors this week on dismissal procedures
following the ACT.
Thank you for your continued support of NHS! Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Bill Harlin, Ed.D.
Principal

Need Math Tutoring Help
Our Math Tutor, Mr. Scott Henneberry is available Monday- Thursday at NHS for Math tutoring
during study halls and homerooms. He is accessible for our NHS students who are taking part in
WCS OLP via email and Zoom. His email address is scott.henneberry@wcs.edu . If your student
is an OLP student that needs math help, please email him so that he can send his zoom link to
meet with your student.

Detentions Start Monday
As a way to help the students ease into attending school in person, we have held off on this
policy. However, as of Monday, our Late to School/Class policy will be put back to play.
Anytime a student is late to school, they need to sign in with a note from a Parent or Doctor.
Without it, it will be considered UNEXCUSED and the student will be issued a detention.
Anytime a student is late to class throughout the day, a teacher will have the ability to issue the
student a detention as well.
**Detentions do not go on student’s transcripts** and they will be held on Wednesdays and
Fridays from 3:00pm – 4:00pm.

Constitution Week – Senior Voter Registration
Students will need their ID issued by Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. They will use their
signature on file for that ID as their signature for voter registration. If the students have their Department of
Safety and Homeland Security ID Number, that will help speed up verification of the signature. If they do not
have the ID Number, the election commission will use the other information entered on the site to download a
signature. It looks like students can do this completely online, then the election commission will mail out
the voter registration card up to 3 weeks later. It will also be helpful if students have their social security number
accessible.

Sophomore and Junior Parent Meeting:
Thursday, September 17th at 6:30 PM via Zoom.
A link will be sent on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
