A. GENERAL INFORMATION
KTM, Red Bull and MotoStudent offer all team members of the MotoStudent Competition
the opportunity to boost its professional skills with an internship in KTM Factory Racing,
Austria, to every Official Registered Team Member in the VI MotoStudent Edition.

This challenge will be composed by two rounds. The first one will be the written project,
where two topics will be given, and each student must choose only one. MotoStudent
Organization will provide the cover template for your project, which will have a maximum
extension of 6 pages, including the cover.

Our expert jury will select the best projects from both topics, and they will access to the
next phase.

On the second phase, selected people will send a short video, in .mp4 format, where
they will answer some question from our side. KTM will choose the best 5 among them.

In the final round, the 5 finalists will explain deeper their projects to the jury in an oral
presentation, having the chance to demonstrate their talent and motivation.

Red Bull MotoBoost - KTM Call Objectives
Red Bull MotoBoost – KTM Call is the second university challenge between official
students enrolled in the VI MotoStudent International Competition, that must perform a
complete design development choosing one out of the two topics available.

This time, the challenge will be individual, because we are looking for a talented and
motivated student among all the participants of the VI Motostudent International
Competition.

KTM, Red Bull and Moto Engineering Foundation want to offer an extra boost to one of
the MotoStudent members’ career: a six months internship with top “two-wheels”
engineers.

   Participation requirements
This challenge is available only for official registered team members in the VI
MotoStudent International Competition and for team members officially registered at the
Motostudent Final Event (30th Jun 2021).

   How to participate
To participate, it is only necessary to download the official template from the MotoStudent
website and submit your project to the specific link for this purpose on the same web,
before the deadline fixed by the calendar of Red Bull MotoBoost. You will be an official
participant once your cover template is delivered, before the deadline indicated in the
Red Bull MotoBoost Calendar. All questions about this new challenge must be directed
to motoboost@motostudent.com.

engineers during an internship in KTM headquarters, Austria. This experience will begin
in February, 2022 and will last until July, 2022.

B. REGULATIONS

   Scoring
KTM, Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and Moto Engineering Foundation committee will
evaluate the projects as stated in the guide.

Any evidence of copying will mean the exclusion from the challenge for all
contestants involved.

   Selection Phases
Phase 1: Best scored 10 written projects from any of each two topics will pass to the
second phase.

Projects that differ more than 7% from the top project of its topic will not be accepted.

Phase 2: Those 10 MotoStudent members will have to send a video in .mp4 format
answering questions that KTM will provide. KTM will choose the best 5 for the final
presentation.

Phase 3: 5 finalists will explain deeper their projects to the jury in an oral presentation
assessed by KTM.

The best scored complete project (written project + answers + presentation), will be the
winner of the Red Bull MotoBoost - KTM Call.

   Documentation submission format
All projects must be delivered in one single PDF file and a maximum of 6 pages (from
page 7 onwards, it will not be evaluated), using the cover template (pdf form) that will be
provided by the Organization, available in MotoStudent website.

Nomenclature for both deliveries will be the same, as follows:

“XX””C”_Surname_Name.pdf

Where:

XX - Bike Number

C - Category (“E” Electric or “P” Petrol)

Example for “Maria Wang”, 00 bike number, electric team:

00E_Wang_Maria.pdf

The structure of the final document should be as follows:
• 1 page for cover (common template)
   • 3 pages maximum for text.
   • 1 page for graphical resources, such as images, graphs, …
   • 1 page for drawings (this page can be DIN A3 format)

Only one project per person will be accepted, and once it is delivered, no changes will
be allowed.

The format used must be the following:

   ⚫ Indentation:
           o Left: 3cm
           o Right: 3cm
           o Upper: 2.5cm
           o Lower: 2.5cm
   ⚫ Line-spaced: 1.5
   ⚫ Paragraphs spacing
           o Previous: 0 points
           o Below: 6 points
   ⚫ Font type: Arial
   ⚫ Size: 11 (except titles and sub-titles)

   Question’s format
Questions sent by KTM must be answered in a short .mp4 video, in a maximum time of
10 minutes.

   Presentation format
Finalists’ presentations will take place over video conference, in a maximum time of 30
minutes (20’ of exhibition + 10’ for questions by the jury).

During the presentation, the student will be allowed to show parts or elements considered
adequate for a better explanation.

Design scenario for Red Bull MotoBoost - KTM Call
To accomplish the challenge, students must work under the regulations of the FIM World
Championship Grand Prix Regulations. There is no need to mention the rules, jury will
be composed by motorsports experts who perfectly know all regulations.

The project must include the design and development of one topic proposed, using your
MotoStudent prototype as base for the design.
A ERODYNAMICS OPTION .
The study of the behavior of the inner flow is as important as the outer flow. In this edition
we invite you to deepen into handling the flow inside your MotoStudent prototype. Your
project will consist in optimizing the inlet and outlet position of the system, managing the
heat dissipation in engine and electronic components, always having into consideration
the effect on the general drag, lift and pitch of the bike…

M ECHANICAL DESIGN OPTION .
If your specialty is mechanical design, this is your opportunity to design, develop and
implement any mechanical device or modification in your MotoStudent prototype that can
make the difference in the box. You need to focus in the changing process of the front
wheel and how to minimize the time consumed in this task. This can make the difference
of your bike being ready after a crash within one session and give your rider the chance
to make the pole position.

   C. RED BULL MOTOBOOST – KTM CALL GUIDE
This document was created by Moto Engineering Foundation with the aid of KTM and
Red Bull, and it was born with several aims. Firstly, to serve as a guide for the
participants, so they can focus their design activity to match the Red Bull MotoBoost
spirit. Secondly, to set common contents for the Engineering Projects. This way, all
participants will know what is expected from the project assessment point of view, so
they can focus their efforts efficiently.

If not explicitly indicated, all the articles mentioned in this document are implicitly referring
to the 2021 FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.

This and subsequent editions will be published only in English and projects must be
delivered in English, as it is the official challenge language. English is also the language
of KTM Factory so speaking and understanding are mandatory skills.

    C.1. PROJECT CONTENT
As a guideline, for the definition of the project, what follows must be considered and
listed as a starting point:

C.1.1. Cover with Project Data
Fill all fields of the cover template provided by the Organization, this data is vital in order
to identify the participants and to contact them for the final phase. This is also the page
in which each student will specify the chosen topic, by ticking the correspondent box.

C.1.2. Project description
Describe the aim of your project. What will be improved? How will it be reached? Does
your project deserve to be implemented on a Grand Prix prototype? All these questions
must be answered.

Don’t forget that this design is for a GP bike, which is assembled and disassembled,
minimum, once per race if there has not been any crash during the GP weekend.

C.1.3. Improvements
The document must include a brief comparison between current design and upgraded
prototype version quantifying, if possible, the improvement.

It is also needed to compare the weight of the prototype, as well as weight balance
(and pressure centre for aerodynamic projects if there is a significant variation), before
and after the application of the upgrade.

    C.2. ASSESSMENT

C.2.1. Written project.
Total written project will be scored up to 100 points. The points will be distributed as
follows:

                                                                            TOTAL
