A new winery is to be build on a plot on the slopes on the edge of the geneva lake where in a cen-
tury long tradition monks have been growing grapes for wine. Its supposed to contain a little ho-
tel , space for conferences.

e-Mobility center integrated project
This design studio combines the insitutes of building structures, structural design, structural
physics and building materials. The task is to fully develop all aspects of a building in a team
of 5.
the e-mobiltity center should be a place to showcase new electronic cars/bikes in a modern
representative setting on the border of stuttgart.

Dies war für uns ein Ansporn, neben dem Gebäudeentwurf ein System zu entwickeln, bei dem der Einblick in das Gebäude in Bezug auf den 1-lagig Bitumenbahn

KAKAOSILO Insitute for sustainable construction | prof. Jens Ludloff
The Design Studio Kakaosilo was based on an actual competition that took place in Basel, switzer-
land in 2015. The Habitat foundation aquired the old industrial BLG SILO, which was originaly used
to store bulk goods on the Basel freight yard. The freight yard is now being transformed into a new
quarter for with a very mixed group of inhabitants. The foundation wants the silo to become a new
center of this community. There is no set allocation plan and the development of the usability con-
cept is just as much part of the competition as the design itself.

The principle is strongly based on the paradigm to have all closed cycles. the base being the function as an aquaponic greenhouse, which is based on the principle that the water fish are bred in, is
used to water the plants with its rich nutrients, whilst the plants filter the water again making it hygenic for the fish.
The form is strongly dicatated by need of light for the greenhouse to be efficient. Further the ishape of the intersection is based on the funnels which are a dominant form in the Silo.
It was also important to maintain the original structural design, whilst modernizing the facade, so we minimized the structural layers by using a simple and natural Cork Facade, and so simple offset
the old facade.
The climate and light is in main part regulated by flexible waterbearing , turnable blades,on one side reflective on the other side Light (PV) and heat absorbing.
