Welcome to MYCOCON 2019

Dear Friends,

We on behalf of Fungal Infection Study Forum (FISF) welcome you to Regional Mycocon 2019 organized
at Hyderabad. Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) in our patients are increasingly recognized as a cause
of considerable morbidity and mortality. The scenario in India appears to be critical due to overcapacity
patient population leading to compromise in healthcare, misuse of antimicrobials and steroids, very
high fungal spore burden in the air of hospitals. The limited studies from India have predicted very high
incidence of IFIs with unique epidemiology. The challenge of rising trend of fungal infections is difficult to
handle in this country due to lack of awareness among healthcare workers, limited number of diagnostic
mycology laboratories, and poor affordability of the patients for expensive diagnostics and antifungal drugs.
Understanding the mammoth task ahead to face the challenge 16 clinicians and microbiologists together
developed this non-profitable trust, FISF with the sole aim to undertake epidemiological and clinical
studies maintaining the scientific integrity and validity, propose country-specific management guidelines,
and organize education activities.
As a part of education activity, the Forum organizes regional conferences and Masterclass across the
country. The present regional conference organized jointly with Apollo Hospital at Hyderabad is part of the
continuous activity of the Forum. The conference would be high quality in scientific content and you would
enjoy the conference. FISF welcomes you to join us in our pledge to reduce the morbidity & mortality of
fungal infections in India.

It is my privilege to invite you to the Mycocon conference by Fungal Infection Study Forum (FISF) at
Hyderabad.

With Regards
