National Tartan Day New York Committee
In 1999, the first parade to celebrate National Tartan Day took place in
New York City. By 2002, the parade had grown to the point that it needed a larger
formal structure to take it forward. The National Tartan Day New York Committee was
formed as a nonprofit to organize the Parade and coordinate all associated activities, which
has now expanded to NYC Tartan Week. Members include representatives from founding
organizations: St. Andrew’s Society of the State of New York, New York Caledonian Club,
The American-Scottish Foundation, Clan Campbell, and Carnegie Hall.

505 8th Avenue | 646.949.4900 | thetailornyc.comWelcome to our 2019 Grand Marshal!
On April 6th, globally-renowned comedian, artist, musician, presenter,
actor and artist, Sir Billy Connolly, graces the streets of New York City as
the Grand Marshal of the 2019 New York City Tartan Day Parade for the
21st anniversary of Tartan Day.
Kyle Dawson, President of the New York Tartan Day Committee, said:
“For over half a century, he has entertained us all through his work and,
because of this, he is beloved on both sides of the pond. This is a big
year with the Big Yin.”
“I’m thrilled to be this
year’s Grand Marshal
of the New York City
Tartan Day Parade. I
can’t wait to hear all
those bagpipes echoing
off the skyscrapers and
to see Sixth Avenue
awash with thousands of
swaying kilts. It’s going
to be brilliant.”
— Sir Billy ConnollyA CONGRATS TO
21st Century Kilts on their 21st year in business.
It is also the 21st National Tartan Day!
A special thanks to Howie & Charlie Nicholsby for their past,
and ongoing support, and for their invaluable assistance in
securing Grand Marshals for the NYC Tartan Day Parades.
They are truly an asset to NYC Tartan Week.
Here’s to the next 21 years,
Your NYC family.
