*NEW* Bishop LeGatt Video Message: Sincere Thanks!
This week, as many are looking back to the last year since intensive public health
measures were put in place in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Archbishop Albert
takes a moment to look back and recognize in a special way the generosity expressed
by countless many in our archdiocese through these challenging times. Namely, this
year's Good Shepherd Campaign, which aimed to continue supporting seminarian
formation, and to allow the archdiocese to continue to offer its various services
despite diminishing income, was able to raise approximately $390,000. This is the fruit
of so many faithful who saw an urgent need within our local Church to maintain and
adapt its various ministries, in these trying times. Many thanks to all who contributed
to this year's campaign, and equal thanks to the countless more who contributed to the vivacity of our
Church in many other, often unseen, ways. Thank you!

*NEW* COVID-19 Restrictions – Code Red Alert Changes – In effect March 13, 2021
New Code Red Alert restrictions for all of Manitoba came into effect on March 13, and will be applicable
until at least March 26. The most significant change for our churches involves the wearing of masks. The
faithful must wear masks when singing. They may, however, remove their masks when seated, provided
they are physically distanced from other persons.

*UPDATED* Message from +LeGatt in support of Development and Peace's Share Lent campaign
This Lent, we are invited to "Share Love". Development and Peace's theme for Share Lent 2021 is inspired
by Pope Francis' encyclical Fratelli Tutti, which deals with fraternity and social friendship, reminding us that
we are all sisters and brothers.
This weekend, on March 20 and 21, we celebrate Solidarity Sunday (Share Lent collection) across the
country. I invite all the faithful of our diocese to pray for peace, to reflect on the meaning of universal
fraternity and to be in solidarity with the most vulnerable in the Global South. The Share Lent collection is
an opportunity to honour the Holy Father’s message as a global community and to find inspiration from the
parable of the Good Samaritan which is at the centre of his encyclical. It is a way of doing our part so that,
as the Pope hopes, “every person lives with dignity and has sufficient opportunities for his or her integral development”.
I invite you to make a Share Lent donation to Development and Peace, either through your parish, or directly to Development
and Peace online at devp.org/lent, by phone at 1 888 234-8533 (toll-free) or by mail at 1425 Rene-Levesque Blvd West,
3rd floor, Montreal, Quebec, H3G 1T7

This Lent, let us embark on a path of sharing, love and universal solidarity!

Following the publication on March 9 of its Note on Ethical Concerns Related to Currently Approved COVID-19
Vaccines, the CCCB followed-up with a second document, making several clarifications. A key point of this second
document: “Since there is currently no choice of vaccine being offered, Catholics in good conscience, may receive the vaccine
that is available and offered to them.” To read the document, which includes the March 9 text, click here.

*NEW* ProAxion Disinfection Method to Combat COVID-19
Jason Wendon, of Proaxion Winnipeg, is currently offering disinfection services for churches, offices and other indoor spaces.
Approved by Health Canada, the ProAxion disinfection method covers 100 % of surfaces. Devices create an electrostatic mist
which eliminates 99.99% of viruses and bacteria. This technology adheres to all surfaces and provides better coverage than
other traditional disinfection methods. For information contact Jason Wenden * at 204-396-6836 or winnipeg@proaxion.ca
* Please note that this COVID-19 sanitization provider was hired by the Diocesan Centre. He is a Catholic and provided quick-
response at off-rate prices for us. The technology is very unobtrusive and is an aerosol derivative of the herb thyme. It is not
toxic to humans, but is deadly to viruses. It is easily dispersed. If any of our parishes are looking for economical methods
and/or means of sanitizing their sanctuary and other church spaces they might want to consider this provider.

“I will be their God and they shall be my people.” - JEREMIAH 31:33

What does it mean to be God’s people? It means we recognize that everything we have and
everything we are belongs to God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the
gifts God has given us. It means we are willing to use our gifts and our lives to care for our family, our
neighbors and for people we don’t know, just as God cares for each of us.

                                          Us Up
Truly, the pandemic has impacted all of our lives, in many different ways. After a year
since the start of more intensive public health measures, many are feeling like they’ve
hit a wall, and are having trouble finding hope. In this week’s message, Archbishop
Albert takes a moment to speak to those who may be particularly suffering from the
effects of depression, anxiety, or other mental health difficulties. Truly, our Christ is
walking with you. Our Christ who gave the ultimate sacrifice on the cross joins your
suffering, and loves you infinitely more than you know. May his light continue to fill the
darkness in our world, and continue to fill your heart with hope, even amid darkness.

From Yesterday to Tomorrow in a Time of Pandemic - March 27, 2021
It has been over a year since COVID-19 entered and took control of many
aspects of our lives. For some, the adjustment to this journey has been slight,
for others monumental. In whatever way we’ve experienced this time, we have
been called to find new ways of living and responding as we transition from
yesterday to tomorrow. Using themes from the Paschal Mystery, into which we
fully enter this Holy Week, this retreat will provide an opportunity to reflect on the experience of this past year, grieve the
losses, and open space within ourselves to live into tomorrow with a new richness in our daily lives. Note that the retreat will
be live streamed Saturday, March 27, 10:30 AM- 5:30 PM (Manitoba Time), from Queen's House, Saskatoon, SK. Review the
pamphlet here and the content of the retreat sessions here.

Virtual God Squad Conference: Saint Joseph, Sanctifier of the Hidden Life - March 19, 2021
The hidden life of Saint Joseph is where Jesus was formed in being the man he was when He began His public ministry. We
don't know of any words Saint Joseph spoke, but we certainly know of his strength in providing for and protecting the Holy
Family here on earth. The virtual God Squad Conference with the theme, Saint Joseph, Sanctifier of the Hidden Life, will be
on March 19th, with Mass at St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal with Bishop McCaig, and on March 20th, 2021 from 10 AM to 1
PM CST. This conference will lead us into the heart of the man of fortitude and providence that Saint Joseph is for all of us.
We hope to make this year's conference a national event all across the country with all Canadian speakers. Andre Regnier is
the co-founder, along with his wife, Angele, of the Catholic Campus Outreach which began campus ministry in 1988. Bishop
Scott McCaig is the Bishop for the Canadian Military and is involved in many missionary outreaches. Jake Khym and his wife
founded the Life Restoration Ministry which involves spiritual formation, workshop presentations, retreat facilitation, and music
ministry in British Columbia. Father Cristino Bouvette, from Calgary, will be our emcee.
Registration is free. To register, go to: https://godsquad.ca/2021-conference

Lent campaign invites us to share love and express solidarity with our sisters
and brothers in the Global South, whose vulnerabilities are being
exacerbated by the pandemic. Remembering the inherent dignity of all human
beings, let us heed the Pope’s reminder that “justice and solidarity, are not
achieved once and for all; they have to be realized each day.” (Fratelli Tutti, 11.)
