Quantum 7
Edited by Prof. Dr. Konrad Kleinknecht.
2019. 123 pages. 5 colour figures, 16 b/w figures.
Publication series of the Heisenberg Society, volume 7.
Format 12.5 x 19 cm. Hardcover. € 22.00 [D]
ISBN 978-3-7776-2797-7

Quantum 7 includes the lectures given at the October 2018 General Meeting of the
Heisenberg Society. The Nobel prize winner Theodor W. Hänsch described his experimental
research on the optical spectroscopy of hydrogen and his passion for generating ever more
precise measurements with the aid of the laser. Karl von Meyenn directed his focus on
the exchange of letters between Wolfgang Päuli and Werner Heisenberg in the 1920’s.
With the letters and other documents of this period, he was able to follow the path of
the two friends and their discussions on the problems of atomic physics that subsequently
led to Heisenberg’s breakthrough on quantum mechanics in June 1925. The volume also
contains two historical documents penned by Werner Heisenberg: in the first text from 1960,
Heisenberg explains how the altered reality of the atomic quantum world necessitated
a change in the language used to describe it. In the second text – a transcript from
a 1968 film– Heisenberg talks about his life as a scientist, teacher, musician and
family man.

Vitamin D for better health

Vitamin D
The healing power of the sunshine vitamin
Patient guide

By Uwe Gröber and Prof. Dr. Klaus Kisters.
7th updated edition 2020. 36 pages.
15 colour figures. 1 colour table. 6 colour
illustrations. Format 11.5 x 16.5 cm.
Sewn. € 4.20 [D]
ISBN 978-3-8047-4094-5

We spend most of our daily life indoors – whether at home or at work. Due to its
geographical location, many parts of Europe don’t enjoy a lot of sun and, as a result,
there is a deficiency of vitamin D. New scientific studies have shown that many illnesses,
such as colds and flu and even malignant diseases such as bowel and breast cancer,
can be prevented with an adequate intake of vitamin D. The response rate of drugs used
in cancer therapy is improved; side effects are reduced. Vitamin D reduces blood pressure
and can effectively support treatment for hypertension.
This patient guide informs patients about the importance of the multitalented vitamin D.

“The booklet is a well-prepared, compact source of information for all those interested
in the subject”. (Pharmazie in unserer Zeit)

Vitamin K: a plus for health

For many people, vitamin K is known only as the vitamin for blood clotting, but this is way
off the mark! Science has discovered a lot of new information and nowadays it is known
that in addition to its role in regulating blood clotting and the flow properties of the blood,
vitamin K also promotes the health of bones and blood vessels, thus protecting against
osteoporosis and arteriosclerosis. In addition, it supports a healthy glucose metabolism in
diabetics and plays a role in the prevention and treatment of cancer. These are too many
positive properties to leave them untapped.
This patient guide informs the reader all about vitamin K.

“… provides precise and understandable information about the most important aspects
of this vitamin and gives specific recommendations as to how it can also be used
prophylactically”. (pka journal)
