LEGO Engineering - Crazy Carnival
Registration Code: NH4001 Grades: 1st-6th Location: Lunch Tables
Time: 2:45-3:50pm Dates: 9/13 - 11/29 No class: 10/25, 11/1
Crazy Carnival Machines will get your students working with LEGO® while
teaching STEM engineering topics. Through this course, your students will
discover simple engineering concepts (gears, levers, pulleys) by engaging in
fun activities and guided play all based around carnival games and
machines.
DUPLO LEGO Storytelling

Storytelling with LEGO® is a Strategic Kids class that brings your child's
imagination to life! Children will use LEGO® to learn about the art of
storytelling in a hands-on, creative environment. Children will learn about the
different parts of a story, working with a team, public speaking and more!
They can create mystical lands, reenact favorite memories, and present

Have you ever wondered what it means to think like a chemist? Just add an
ounce of curiosity with a cup of enthusiasm to learn what makes the world
tick. Have you ever wondered how to whip up Elephant Toothpaste, grow
crystals, or create extreme bubbles? These are just a few of the many
exciting hands-on experiments students will perform while learning the
difference between physical changes and chemical reactions in this
electrifying class.

WEDNESDAY
Pateadores Soccer Training
Registration Code: NH4003 Grades: K-6th Location: Field
Time: 1:15-2:20pm Dates: 9/15 - 12/1 No class: 10/27, 11/24
Pateadores Soccer Training is designed to develop young players' technical
ability as well as their passion for the game. Training young players should
always have a ratio of 1 ball for no more than 2 players. Training young
players should never have waiting in line and should have every player
exhausted after training with a desire to come back again and again. This
class will introduce players to a variety of skills that will help them improve no

Painting, Drawing, Printing, & Clay

Location: Lisa Albert Art Studio - 440 E. 17th St, Costa Mesa
Time: 3:30-4:30pm Dates: 9/16 - 12/2 No class: 10/26, 11/11, 11/25
Students will paint, draw, collage and print on a variety of materials such as
canvas, quality paper, metal, as well as clay and wood while keeping within
the Fall time theme. Fundamental techniques, skills & art appreciation will be
taught by a professional artist and teacher. Experience this wonderful and

Strategic Chess
Registration Code: NH4005 Grades: K-6th Location: Lunch Tables
Time: 2:45-3:50 Dates: 9/17 - 12/3 No class: 10/29, 11/26
Strategic Kids is proud to offer this unique program as we use a story based
curriculum to get children excited about chess. Our lessons are tailored to
the skill level of the students; all chess levels are welcome! In each class,
children will get a 30 minute lesson followed by 30 minutes of chess playing
time! We use chess to teach many life skills including sportsmanship,
patience, strategic thinking, planning ahead, and working towards a goal.
The class will end with a fun tournament where children have the opportunity
to win trophies and prizes!

What is ?
After Class Enrichment (ACE) is a series of programs through the City of Newport Beach designed to
further enhance your child’s curriculum by providing high-quality instruction in a variety of recreational
activities held immediately after school dismissal. Your favorite instructors from the City of Newport
Beach Recreation & Senior Services Department will host their class allowing your young ones the
opportunity to expand their learning, discover a new hobby, and develop friendships for years to come.
KINDER CLUB
Run by City of Newport Beach recreation staff, Kinder Club supervises your
kindergartner from their early dismissal until the final bell. During this time,
your kindergartner can enjoy playing board games, outdoor activities, and
creating take-home projects in a safe environment while waiting for school
to end or for their ACE class to begin.
