Profitable slaughter lambs
The aim of EBVs is to allow buyers to see how much of an animal’s performance is due to its
breeding (genetics) and how much has been influenced by the environment that they have been
kept in – management, feeding, farm location, housing etc
An animal will pass on half of its genetic merit to its offspring.
e.g., if Ram A has a Scan Weight of +3.33 then his progeny at scanning will be over 1.5kg heavier than
average
