FLAG
O
n August 7, 2020, the Poor Clare Nuns of Omaha gathered at the
newly installed flagpole to raise the American Flag for the first time.
The flagpole had been part of the building project. The long delayed
project finally made it on this historic year 2020, manifesting the prayers of
the Poor Clare Community for America and everything that the American
Flag stands for the American Nation.

MAKES PROFESSION OF
TEMPORARY VOWS
S
ister Lydia of the Assumption of Mary Boodhu, 2.
OSC made her first Profession of Temporary Vows
on Tuesday, the 11th of August 2020; Feast of Holy
Mother Saint Clare. Archbishop Emeritus Elden Francis
Curtiss was the Main Celebrant of the Mass held in the
Chapel of the Portiuncula at 9:00 AM. The Archbishop
was assisted by Deacon Terry Ficenec. Fr. Daniel Soltys,
Fr. Ron Wasikowski, and Fr. Patrick C. Harrison were on
hand to concelebrate. Jim Nailon was present with his gui-
tar to lead the singing.

ST. JOSEPH MAKES
HIS WAY TO THE MONASTERY
T
he statue of St. Joseph with the young Jesus was delivered to the Monastery by The Cosgrave
Company on the 15th of October 2020. From the Studio Demetz in Italy, it was brought to Rome,
and took the flight to New York where there was a long delay at the customs, before proceeding
to Chicago and finally to Omaha. A central place is prepared for it in the parking lot, on a custom made
stand, facing the monastery gate.
St. Joseph, Patron of the Franciscan Monastery of St. Clare and “Protector of Families” makes his
appearance at a time when marriage and the family are threatened by counter values. The Poor Clare
Nuns of Omaha are grateful to Dr. George and Maureen Emodi for donating the beautifully hand made
work of art. Bricks will be laid out on the ground around the statue stand. These will be available to all
those who wish to entrust themselves and their families to the protection and intercession of St. Joseph,
“Foster Father of Jesus” and “Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary”. Information to reserve St. Joseph
Bricks will be sent out in the mail from the Office of the Abbess.

Sister Theresina and the Poor Clare Sisters,
Thank you so much for praying for a family member of mine, Randy Burk. When I asked for your help
he was in ICU on a ventilator for 55 days. The virus really made him ill. The Doctor gathered the family
and said, “it would take a miracle for him to survive”. They recommended “Palliative Care” only.
Twenty-four hours later, after you prayed for him, he opened his eyes. Sedation was decreased, he sat in
a chair for the first time in 60 days, and he will be transferred to a rehab center soon.
A true miracle occurred with the help of your prayers.

Please keep praying for my lovely wife Lori. Since you have been praying for her, the bone cancer has
disappeared! The doctors are amazed! She still has some spots in the brain. Please continue to help so
she may have a healing miracle for a good, healthy, happy and cancer free life.
