glad to talk to you about any of our great programs.
The Board and Education Committee carefully considered the benefits and
implications of this program since April 2014. This has included a field trip to
an immersion school, reviewing our teacher application process, investigat-
ing curriculum options, talking with our teaching staff, and determining the
financial feasibility of the program.
There has certainly been quite a bit of homework!

to all the kids who participated and
to those who supported Christian
education at Lansing Christian!
Lansing Christian School held its Science Fair Open House in February. The
gym was filled with great projects, fun demonstrations, proud parents, and
nervous students! It was a great evening showcasing our questions about our
Creator’s world!
At the Lansing Area Science Fair, Lansing Christian took home three Out-
standings--Greg Leystra, Zach Rozendal, and Marc Rozendal--and one 2nd
place--Olufemi Terebo. Greg Leystra took home “Best of Fair” in Environ-
mental Science with his project, “Just Burn It.” Greg Leystra and Zach Rozen-
dal will be competing in the Regional Fair in mid-March.
Picture Lady
Each month LCS Picture Lady, Florence Bandstra, helps first, second and
third graders gain an appreciation of artistic masterpieces. Mrs. Bandstra
gives the students information about the artwork selection and then helps
the students create their very own masterpiece. Thank you Mrs. Bandstra for
volunteering to be our Picture Lady!

Coach Ryan Ohm Later we had to face Crown Point again, this time at home. The boys were ready
this time, looking for a little basketball revenge, and that is what they got. The
game started with Lansing up and it stayed that way the home game. The LCS
boys ended up winning that game 37-30. Four regular games followed, Calvary,
Calvin, DeMotte, and Highland. The boys ended up losing to Calvary, winning
against Calvin and DeMotte, and losing to Highland.
We were seeded fifth in the tournament and had to play fourth-seeded Crown
Point in the first game. We led the first 3 quarters in the game, playing great
defense and getting good shots. The final quarter was a nail-biter, the teams
trading leads, with Crown Point up by three after making two free throws. With
just seconds remaining, a three-pointer went up, hit the ceiling, and the game
ended, 35-38. What an ending! But it showed what the coaches had been tell-
ing the boys all season: if the boys played as a team, they could compete and win
against any team they played. They also were repeatedly told (and probably wake
up in cold sweats hearing) three things: “Finish it”! (make your layup shots), “Box
out!” (everyone can do this well, and they did), and “Follow your shot!” (easier
said than done).
Special thanks to Trent Kamp for taking stats at all our games. Great boys, great
time, great season! Coach David Gomez and Coach Carl Smits
