Student iCON
12. As part of Ministry of Education’s (MOE) commitment to nurture future-ready learners,
MOE has provisioned for all students to have access to the MOE Centralised ICT Systems (“the
MOE Systems”) in their course of education in school. These systems include Student iCON,
Zoom, Microsoft Pro Plus, and Google for Education tools like Google Classroom and Google
Drive.

13. As Student iCON may be your child’s/ward’s first email account, do make time to log

Amendment to Approved Absence (AA) Policy
14. As per the current AA policy, students should remain at home under AA if any of their

Concluding Remarks…

There was once a boy who was very rich and clever. He was so rich that
every day, he bought himself something new to make him happy. One day, his
uncle gave him a mysterious gift. “This old mirror is very special. Use it well,” his
           uncle told him.
Accepting the gift, the boy went to see his reflection in it. His face in the
mirror looked very sad. He tried smiling and making funny faces, but his reflection
continued with its sad expression. Surprised, the boy went off to buy sweets. He
in a good mood with a belly full of sweets, but when he looked the mirror, but his
reflection still looked sad. He bought all kinds of toys and old junk, but forever
looked sad in that mirror. Fed up, the boy stuck the mirror in a corner. He could
not understand why his uncle would give him such a useless and defective gift.
One day, the boy went out as usual to buy himself something new to make
him happy. On his way to the shops, he saw a little boy who was crying his heart
out. The little boy was crying so much, and looked so lonely, that the rich boy
grew concerned. He went over to help the little boy and to see what had
happened. The little one told him that he had lost his parents.
Together the two boys set off in search of them. As the little boy wouldn't
stop crying, the rich boy spent all his money buying him sweets to cheer him up.
Finally, after much walking, they found his parents, and the little boy was
overjoyed. The rich boy said goodbye. Seeing the time, he decided to head home,
without new toys, and without money.
At home, he went into his room and noticed a shining light in the corner. It
was coming from the mirror! Looking into it, the boy saw a bright golden light
radiating from his own reflection. He was shining! Finally, he understood why his

                                                                                                   5
uncle had given him the mirror, a mirror that could reflect true joy. He realised
then that he felt genuinely happy at having helped that little boy, happier than
        he had ever been.
Forever after, each morning when he looked in that mirror and failed to see
a special shine, he already knew what he had to do to bring it back.
Adapted from a story by Pedro Pablo Sacristan

32. This term, QtPS is embarking on Peer Support, a new programme in our school where
our Queenstowners can turn to our Peer Support Leaders for help and friendship. Peer Support
has been shown to build a positive culture in schools, encouraging all students to turn to each
other for help, and to help others who need it. Our Peer Support Leaders will be a listening
ear, a helping hand, and a spokesperson to get help for classmates when necessary. By their
positive words and actions, they will influence the Queenstowners around them to do what is
right. When we act with Integrity and help those around us, all of us in the Queenstown Family
will become happier too. As our very important partners at home, do support our
Queenstowners in becoming positive peers for others by encouraging them to do what is right,
and praising them for helping whenever they see anyone in need of it. We wish you a restful
and help-filled June holiday.

Onward to Success!
