Hi Everyone, Photo: Open Day 7th November

Thank you to those of you who were
able to come to our Special Open Day
of the new apartments on Saturday
7th November, your presence helped
to create the relaxed and friendly
atmosphere which no doubt plays a
big part in presenting our village to the public in a positive light. Im sure Mr. Whippy also
appreciated the support!
A notice has been distributed around the village advising that the Friday Forum has been
pushed-out to December 4th. This fits best with staff availability on this day and gives us time
to negotiate with the fire chief and update the village Warden list and discuss village
emergency procedures with you. A guest speaker from the Fire Department will be
attending to discuss with you what to do in an emergency evacuation. We will also discuss
matters that came up at the recent village AGM.
Congratulations to the Golf Croquet girls who are doing well. Hilary had a big win and Sheryl
and Ann came Runners Up!
There is still time to put your name down for the Xmas Dinner on Saturday 12th December, so
do this soon if you haven’t already – details on page 2. This is a fun night, a good feed, good
entertainment, subsidized by the Residents Committee and the village - only $12pp. As
always, the more the merrier!
The busy time of year is upon us, so take care amoungst the hustle & bustle. The Connecter
Van will keep running except for on the public holidays (and weekends). Greg and Linda will
be working through the xmas period except for on the public holidays (and weekends):
rubbish days are unchanged (Tuesdays) and greenwaste collection moved to Tuesdays &
Thursdays. The office will be closed from Tuesday 22nd December and reopening on Monday
11th January. We are still available via the office phone (868-5484), so do not hesitate to
phone it if you need to.
Take care and be thoughtful to others around you, this time of year can mean different things
to different people. Let’s make this a time of inclusion - friendliness, helpfulness and
maintaining the safe and caring environment our village has, for everyone in it.
We wish you all a very special Xmas and a happy New Year!

From Stephanie, Amy and all staff at Richmond Villas

Book Review: BRIDGE OF CLAY…Author, Markus Zusak
A great Australian novel and complex book set in a Sydney suburb.

It is a story that spans across many years; the story of the lives of the Dunbar boys. Five
brothers, Matthew, Rory, Tommy, Harry and Clay. The eldest brother Mathew tells their story
of a home run by the brothers own rules as they struggle to raise themselves after the death
of their mother and then eventually discover the secret behind the sudden disappearance of
their father. The story focuses primarily on the life and hardships of the youngest brother,
Clay. Maybe a bit drawn out at times but I think well worth reading.
