Program
Eligibility:
Graduating African-American Seniors in the Richland, Lexington, Newberry, and
Fairfield County School Districts
Applications will be screened based on financial need, GPA, SAT/ACT scores,
the essay, recommendation forms, class rank, and honors/awards

South Carolina State Fair Scholarship
Eligibility:
All applicants should:
Applicant must be a full-time resident of South Carolina and a senior in a public
or private high school or home school in South Carolina.
Applicant must complete the online application form in its entirety.
Applicant must attach a current photograph (preferably a senior class photo).
Applicant must attend a public or private college, university, or technical college
in the state of South Carolina.
Award: (50) $6000; ($1500 a year)

Justin Thomas Gustav Pepper Memorial Scholarships
Eligibility:
The process that is standard in choosing to award scholarships to qualified students is as
follows:
High School Senior
Volunteer and/or philanthropic activities that you have participated in;
Evidence of leadership, maturity, integrity and character; Clarity, proper grammar usage, set goals, and how you plan to give back/or pass
on to your community in the future.

Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) Scholarship
Eligibility:
Be a US-based high school senior of African descent (for example, African American,
African, Ethiopian, etc.).
Plan to attend a four-year college or university in the US in the fall immediately
following your high school graduation.
Plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer
information systems, or select business programs (such as finance, business
administration, or marketing).
Demonstrate a passion for technology.
Demonstrate leadership at school or in the community.
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Require financial assistance to attend college.

Bobby Chapman Scholarship Eligibility:
Must be accepted to matriculate as a fill-time student in an accredited college or
university offering academic programs leading to the baccalaureate degree.
Must have a recommendation from his/her school counselor or principal. (Only 5
applications will be accepted from each high school.)
Must be a person of good character, demonstrate leadership, have academic
promise, and promise to make positive contributions as a mature citizen.
Maintain a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Award: (10) $1,500 (renewable for up to 4 years)

1000 Dreams Scholarship Fund
Eligibility:
All women enrolled in a U.S. based institution – high school, college, university,
graduate school, etc. – are able to apply regardless of citizenship.
Must show proof of current enrollment in a United States based school.
Fill out all application fields, submit two letters of recommendation, complete the essay
portion and demonstrate financial need.
Funds must be used the semester after they are awarded and cannot be deferred.
Award Amount: Varies (This educational assistance can include needs such as, but not
limited to: educational conferences, instructional programs related to creative or artistic
pursuits, graduate exam application fees, and textbooks. Ongoing needs such as tuition,
room and board fees, etc. are not covered by this fund)

Eligibility:
o SCEAR- South Carolina Education Association- Retired Scholarship
Eligibility all applicants should:
o High School Senior graduating from a public high school in South Carolina
o Plan on attending a SACS accredited college, university, technical school, or
community college in South Carolina as a full-time student
o Plan to pursue a career in education
o Must have maintained a good high school academic record , maintaining a 3.0
GPA while in college, and demonstrate leadership abilities

o Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics
Current or planned full-time attendance at an accredited U.S. four-year college or
university
Interest in a paid internship with Lockheed Martin following their freshman,
sophomore or junior year of college, other circumstances notwithstanding (note: the
internship is not required to receive a scholarship, and scholarship recipients are not
guaranteed an internship)

Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship Scholarship
Eligibility:
U.S. citizen
Be a high school senior OR high school graduate (or GED equivalent).
Have not earned a bachelor’s degree prior to the 2023-2024 academic year.
Be currently enrolled or planning to enroll full-time or part-time (minimum 6 credit
hours) at one of the following types of accredited institutions: vocational-technical
school, trade school, two-year community college, or state college.
Be pursuing an associate’s degree, credit-bearing certificate, or an industry-
recognized credential, in one of the fields of study below, with an anticipated
completion date no earlier than December 2023 and no later than June 2026.
Fields of study include: Advanced Manufacturing, Computer and Informational
Science, Engineering, Engineering technology, Mechanic and Repair Technologies
(Note: If student’s Specific Major falls under one of the listed Fields of Study, but the
student’s Specific Major is not listed, student is still eligible to apply. Check website

Chi Iota Iota Chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship
Eligibility:
o Applicants should be African American male high school seniors who reside in
and attend high school in either Richland or Lexington counties.
o Three (3) letters of recommendation; at least two (2) letters of recommendations
must come from school officials.
o A 5’ x 7’ digital color photograph of the applicant wearing a suit and tie or
graduation attire. Label photos by name and email to randolws@dhec.sc.gov.
o Copies of unconditional acceptance letter(s) from four-year colleges or
universities the applicant has been accepted to or plans to attend.
o Sealed copy of applicant’s official high school transcript.
o Submission of a typewritten, double-spaced essay on the topic: A world crisis has
caused a paradigm shift for health disparities and social justice. What are your
suggestions for positive change? The essay must be original and neither previously
published nor secured by copyright. The essay must be between 700 and 750 wordsin length, type-written, and double-spaced. Do not change or shorten the essay
topic. The essay must be submitted via email in Microsoft Word.

South Carolina Coaches Association of Woman’s Sport (SCCAWS) and Trophies By “M”
Education Scholarship
Eligibility:
The purpose of the SCCAWS Scholarship is to encourage student athletes to enter the field of
education. To help us in selecting a recipient for the award, eligibility requirements include:
1. Academic excellence (transcript, including SAT and/or ACT scores required)
2. Recommendations from guidance counselor and two teachers
3. Extra-curricular activities involving athletic and non-athletic participation (must be an
eligible high school participant on one or more athletic teams).
4. Enrolling female college freshman who plans to major in education.
5. A one-page essay (in the student’s handwriting) on the topic “Why I Want to Be a
Teacher and Where I Envision Myself in the Teaching Field in Ten Years.”
6. SAT – minimum composite score of 1000 and/or ACT – minimum composite score
of 22
7. Rank in class
8. GPA (based on S.C. Uniform Grading Scale)

Medical Scholarship
Eligibility:
The purpose of the SCCAWS and Trophies by “M” Scholarship is to encourage student athletes
to enter the field of medicine. To help us in selecting a recipient for the award, eligibility
requirements include:
1. Academic excellence (transcript, including SAT and/or ACT scores required)
2. Recommendations from guidance counselor and two teachers
3. Extra-curricular activities involving athletic and non-athletic participation (must be an
eligible high school participant on one or more high school league athletic teams).
