School Profile
St Patrick’s Catholic School, Taumarunui, was established in 1916 by the Sisters of St Joseph of the
Sacred Heart. Our school is located in Taumarunui, a small rural town in the Ruapehu District,
Central North Island. St Patrick’s caters for students both in town and from the outlying rural areas.
Our student population is close to 70 and we have approximately 42% Maori students. We belong to
the Parish of the Immaculate Conception, Taumarunui, and our school is well supported by
parishioners. We have a Decile 4 rating with a maximum roll of 195.
Our school provides a high quality Catholic education for students, Years 1 – 8. The school is sited in
a quiet neighbourhood. It boasts pleasant grounds with ample space for children to play and
exercise.
St Patrick’s Catholic School, Taumarunui, is a welcoming, sacred place which provides the
opportunity for our students to learn through our special character and the religious education
programme. The special Catholic character permeates all aspects of school life; our mission and
values are lived in all we do. Our committed staff uphold our Christian values and are outstanding
role models for students. Students are well cared for and encouraged to learn in this nurturing
environment. This creates the caring family atmosphere that is our school.
