Dorothy Barley Junior Academy is a 4 form entry Junior school located in Dagenham close

The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated School Business Manager to join
our team. This should be someone who is committed and dedicated to providing excellent
support to our school. Responsible for HR processes, finance procedures and regulations,
premises management, Health & Safety and wellbeing.

Trust. Provide a link between the Trust Head Office and the school’s/academies by working
with the Business Managers in individual schools/academies.
Responsible to:
Chief Finance and Operations Office (CFOO)
Responsible for:
Effective support for and accurate monitoring and reporting of all Trust financial aspects
across the school/academy network.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Review of monthly management accounts and budget monitoring reports for
school’s/academies, highlighting areas requiring attention to the CFOO and
providing feedback to school/academy Headteachers.
• Support the Business Managers in month end routines and reconciliations.
• Ensure monthly management information from network of schools/academies is both
accurate and fulfils the requirements of the Trust.
• Ensure year-end payroll routines such as EOY and P11D’s are completed within the
specified time scale.
• Assisting schools in the development of internal controls and systems that meet the
requirements of The Trust.• Assisting Schools/academies and the CFOO in development and delivery of financial
plans.
• Supporting the CFOO in preparation of Trust-wide financial manuals and guidance
notes.
• Supporting the CAO in routine admin tasks when requested.
• Support the CFOO in the preparation of annual accounts, budgets, DfE returns and
other financial statements in accordance with the Companies Act 1985 and DfE
requirements.
• Support Business Managers with year-end tasks such as accruals/prepayments,
depreciation and the fixed asset register.
• Contribute to the training and development of the Business Managers where
required and support understanding of Financial Accounting.
• Providing support and guidance to schools/academies on the use and operation of
The Trust finance system where appropriate.
• Support with the preparation of The Trust’s VAT return.
The ideal candidate will have appropriate skills and knowledge along with a commitment to
the values and ethos of the The Good Shepherd Catholic MAT. A driving licence and
access to a car are both desirable as the work requires regular travel between school sites.
