“NDE for Additive Manufacturing”
Drs. Peter Collins and Lucas Koester, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa
Additive manufacturing is a rapidly maturing process for the production of complex metallic, ceramic,
polymeric, and composite components. The processed used are numerous, and with the complex
geometries involved this can make quality control and standardization of the process used and
inspection challenging. This short course will cover issues and challenges faced by the NDE community
with the increasing adoption of additively manufactured materials and parts including in-process
measurements at the interfaces between manufacturing engineering, NDE and materials science.
Seating is limited!
Schedule
DAY 1: Saturday, July 14, 2018
• Session 1: Review of Additive Manufacturing and the State of the Art
• Session 2: Process and Measurement Needs – A Process Modeling & NDE Perspective
• Lunch
• Session 3: Expert Panel – Current Needs, Challenges and Vision for Additive Manufacturing
• Session 4: Case Studies in Additive Manufacturing and Quality Control
DAY 2: Sunday, July 15, 2018
• Session 1: Material and Geometric Considerations for Additive Manufacturing Inspections
• Session 2: Post Production Inspection and Standardization Status

Exhibit Table
The QNDE conference provides businesses and organizations involved in
NDE the opportunity to highlight their organization to participants from
around the world with an exhibit table.
The QNDE community uses a wide range of equipment and software. This
provides an excellent marketing venue to discuss new projects, showcase
the latest products your organization has to offer and exchange experiences.
Exhibitors will have ample time to interact with over 250 attendees during
the conference.
