Senior Family Virtual Workshop - August 20th 2020 - Achievable Dream Middle ...
 Naviance is a college and career readiness tool/software that
              allows students to research and prepare for careers, college,
              personal life goals and more recently apply to colleges. Naviance
              was introduced to students in NNPS in the fall of last school year.
What Is      Students were advised to complete a 180 question Career Interest
Naviance?     Profiler that helped them determine which careers/jobs best
              suited them based upon their responses.
             This year seniors will use Naviance to do virtual tours, research
              colleges, request transcripts, and letters of recommendations.

1. Create a list of colleges that you are
interested in applying to.
2. Letters of recommendation ( two/three
letters)
3. Test scores ( SAT/ACT)
4. Personal Essay
5. Deadlines ARE IMPORTANT!!!!!

binding

    Common Application: www.commonapp.org
     - Non-exclusive Common App: Apply by way of Common App or College Website
     - Exclusive Common App: Apply only by way of Common App
    Electronic Applications: Submit on college website
    Paper Applications: Mailing information on college website

If you are using the Common App to apply for any colleges, you
will be required to match your Common App account with your
Naviance account.
Create Your Common App Account

     Complete your FERPA Release Authorization.

     account. Go to the College tab > Click on Colleges I’m Applying To >
     Match Account

Add Colleges to your List

     Add colleges to your list of “Colleges I’m Applying to”
     Go to the Colleges tab > Click on Colleges I’m Applying to > Click on the
     red plus button

     Click to type in the name of the college you’re applying to and indicate
     what deadline and how you are applying. Click to add transcript at the
     bottom of the page.

Requesting a Letter of Recommendation

     On the Colleges tab, scroll below your list of colleges applying to and
     locate the Teacher Recommendations section. Click to Add Request

     Select the teacher name from the dropdown and enter a personal
     message.

Show Me How Feature
This feature allows students to get guided step by step
instructions on how to maneuver through the website.
 Both the ACT and SAT will be available for students to take this
             year. Due to the high demand of students needing to test, both
             companies have included additional testing dates to their
             calendars.

College     Both Heritage and Denbigh High Schools are testing sites.
                Heritage (SAT only)

Exams       *Special Note: Heritage and Denbigh High Schools will not be
             offering the SAT tests in August and September. October test
             administration TBD.
            Denbigh High School will not be offering the ACT test during the
             months of September and October. December testing is TBD.
