Control measures – What we plan to due
1. Seating organised into rows and facing forward in all KS1 and KS2 classes
2. Early Years setting using continuous provision ensuring that all resources are regularly sanitised
3. Class Charter created for and with the children –
(Include instructions how to line up (1 metre away), use of toilet, moving around the classroom and
school)
Charter re-visited and modelled many times a day and linked to school behaviour system – lots of
recognition of adherence to policy
4. Hands washed / or sanitised upon arrival to school, after each activity, before and after each break time,
when moving to / or returning from another class room (KS2), after coughing or sneezing and at the end
of the day.
5. Lessons planned for individual work or paired work (not group work)
6. Where possible staff to be at front or side or back of room
7. Conversation in the classroom from adult height, where appropriate and staff are able to wear face
masks or shields
8. If close feedback or communication needed – side to side not facing child
9. Set seating plan so children have their desk which is the same every day
10. Coats kept in classrooms for KS2
11. Playtimes – in key stage bubbles
12. When moving around – children move in small groups and managed by teacher to handwashing,
changing sessions etc.
13. In KS1 sitting on the carpet needs to be as spread out as possible (some could sit at desks)

14. Water bottle on desks or under desk to remove need of children moving around classrooms
15. Ensure good ventilation in each classroom all day (windows and / or doors open) Extra warm clothing
may be required.
16. BUBBLES:
Children – Key Stages in Bubbles
EY & KS1 classes remain within class group moving to wider Key Stage Bubble of classes with minimal
additional movement.
17. KS2 classes moving to subject specific teaching within year groups will ensure a smaller number of
children in each room. Strict personal hygiene to be followed at all times. Desks, touch points and
resources to be sanitised after each room use. _ Year groups remain in base classes, teachers to move.
Y4 art room as for maths lessons.

1. Phase toilets – Boys and girls – extra cleaning scheduled during the day – prior and post lunchtime

5. Wedges for the toilet external toilet doors
6. Extra soap ordered to ensure we do not run out

2. Markers outside the classrooms for the children and parents to wait – 2 metres apart as much as
possible

1. No movement around school, except for arrival and departure, lunch times, break times and KS2 moving
to other class rooms for lessons
2. One boy and one girl going to toilet at one time supervised
3. Messages to office via telephone
4. Agree instructions with children concerning going and returning to toilet
5. When moving class around the school – 2 metres between children where possible – one adult at back
insisting the distance is maintained – regular practice this in the first few days – Staff keeping distance
where possible

4. Lessons planned so resources are paired and not group

8. Resources left on front tables for cleaning / steaming – if shared within the day

Control measures – What we plan to do
1. Children have already taken part in transition activities during Summer term, met new teaching staff,
peers and are familiar with classrooms. This will be revisited during first day.
2. Individual risk assessments for children with special educational and behavioural needs
3. HSLW to work closely with class teachers to identify needs and work with the children and families as
needed.
4. Daily HSLW, SENCO, SLT meetings to discuss any concerns

1. Identify needs of children
2. Put in place behaviour / care plans
3. Staff to wear full PPE, mask, visor, apron, gloves
4. Reduced timetable / exclusion / inclusion considered if necessary if children are acting in a way that
other children or staff are put at risk
5. Personal care – PPE (mask, face shield, gloves and apron)
6. Administering first aid to be carried out side to side, using verbal instructions if possible. Gloves, apron,
face mask and shield must be worn at all times
7. If child has temperature or new and continuous cough – child taken to VENTILATED LIBRARY (staff to
keep 2 metre distance when escorting and wear PPE) Staff to put on PPE and take temperature. If child
has temperature or new cough, then inform office and parents will be contacted. Staff in PPE to stay
with child until parent arrives. Siblings also sent home. Parent told to get test and keep children off
school until test has been returned.
8. Member of staff who was with child – removes PPE in disabled toilet by office and place in yellow bins,
wash hands and use hand gel. (Staff can return to work after this situation)

Control measures - What we plan to do
1. Hands washed / or sanitised upon arrival to school, after each activity, before and after each break time,
when moving to / or returning from another class room (KS2), after coughing or sneezing and at the end
of the day.
2. Hand gel in of all classrooms
3. Hand gel order in large quantities
4. Extra soap dispensers and re-fills in each classroom
5. Washing hands posters replaced in all washing areas
6. Reminders how to wash hands properly – videos and posters
7. Procedure agreed for children to wash hands so thorough hand washing – soap walk to back of line,
rubbing hands and then rinse off when back to the front of the line.

8. Timetables created to enable all children to wash hands before and after lunch, after break if not
possible hand gel used.

Control measures - What we plan to do
1. All surfaces, handles, toilets and shared equipment will be cleaned each morning and at midday by
cleaning staff
2. Touchpoints in classrooms will be regularly cleaned throughout the day by class staff
3. PPE will be worn by all when cleaning
4. Reading books given and collected out once a week – home reading record (to be left at home and
collected in once every 3 weeks) (No library books in first instance)
5. Soft furnishings and soft / cloth toys will be removed from use in classrooms
6. Shared resources left on front desks for cleaning at end of the day
7. Toilets checked throughout the day and cleaned at midday in addition to morning clean
8. Displays to be designed to engage children but not encourage touching – so decoration above the
children’s heads and class doors to be left clear.

Control measures - What we plan to do
1. Children separated into bubbles of EY, KS1 and KS2
2. Children to sanitise hands upon arrival and after each activity
3. Children to use own bubble toilets (EY, KS1 toilets in Y1 and KS2 main toilets)
4. Equipment to be sanitised at the end of each session
5. No parents to enter school building – sign on collection only not arrivals. Pen to be sanitised after each
use.
6. Staff to stay with children in bubbles
7. Children have own labelled equipment.

4. All visitors in school must wear a face mask and sanitise hands on arrival.
