Call for people aged 70 and over to contact NHS for a
Covid jab
People aged 70 and over who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 and who
would like to be, can contact the NHS to arrange a jab.

The easiest way to arrange a vaccination is through the national booking service which can
be accessed at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.
Services affected by severe weather - Tandridge District ...
The system allows patients to choose a time slot and location that suits them.
Anyone unable to book online can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm
seven days a week.

If a suitable and convenient slot is not available people can also call their GP practice.

Anyone who received a letter this year asking them to shield should also receive an
invitation from their doctor, as well as from the national booking service inviting them for a
jab.

Council agrees district council tax increase of £5
Last night’s Council meeting agreed an increase of £5 a year for a Band D property in our
share of the council tax for 2021/2022.

The Council’s share of Band D council tax will increase to £225.98, which is just under
£4.35 a week and will help pay for a wide range of vital services like recycling and waste
collections, developing town centres, parks and open spaces and supporting our most
vulnerable residents.

Surrey County Council, which provides services including schools, adult social care,
children services, roads, fire and rescue and libraries, together with the Office of the Surrey
Police and Crime Commissioner, both increased their Band D level for 2021/2022.

More information on how the council tax will be divided is available on our website.

Withdrawal of Church Walk planning application
The planning application for the redevelopment of the Church Walk shopping centre in
Caterham has been withdrawn by the applicant.

The application was due to be discussed at a special Planning Committee meeting on 18
February. Following the withdrawal of this application, this meeting has been cancelled with
no decision or further action required on this application.

Any future scheme for the site would need to be submitted under a new planning
application, at which point the local community and other interested parties would be
consulted.

We have contacted all parties who requested to speak on the application at the committee
meeting. Thank you to everyone for their representations and comments.

Tandridge Together
Community Fund awards
£22,670 to local
organisations
We are delighted to announce the
Tandridge Together Community Fund has
awarded over £20,000 in grants of up to
£2,000 to local organisations to help fund
initiatives which will directly benefit the
health and wellbeing of residents.

The fund invited local organisations which operate in the Tandridge district to apply for
small grants at the end of last year. Many charities, organisations and local good causes
which applied have been essential lifelines for residents during the Covid-19 pandemic,
even when their own funds have been depleted due to many fundraising events being
cancelled.

Representatives from the Tandridge Health and Wellbeing Board met in January to learn
about all the amazing initiatives carried out by our local voluntary and community
organisations and to award the grants. The selection process was difficult with 44
applications submitted and the Board was pleased to be able to award grants to 16 local
organisations.

These grants will help a wide range of projects from supporting carers, helping young
adults with disabilities, working with vulnerable children and students at local schools,
befriending services for older people, offering people with financial concerns access to

confidential advice as well as improving the physical and mental health of residents by
contributing towards a variety of clubs and activities.

residents will help us plan many of the services we provide.

year. You’ll receive a letter nearer the time with an access code to enable you to complete
it online.

Local elections – dates for your diary
On Thursday 6 May, the Police and Crime Commissioner, County, District and Parish
elections will take place. There will also be a referendum on the Caterham, Chaldon and
Whyteleafe Neighbourhood Plan, which sets the basis for future planning applications in
the three wards.

We’ll share more information on the elections in the coming weeks, including how we’re
making sure polling stations are safe for residents but until then, here’s some dates for
your diary:

Don’t take coronavirus
home with you
With few places open to go shopping at
the moment, our local supermarkets and
corner shops are busy.

Approximately 1 in 3 people who have
coronavirus have no symptoms and
could be spreading it without realising it.

To reduce the risk of catching coronavirus
and make sure you don’t take it home with

you, please shop alone and always
remember hand – face – space.

Hands – wash your hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds.
Face – wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be
difficult, and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
Space – stay two metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or
one metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings).

Thank you to everyone who has been working in our supermarkets and local stores
throughout the pandemic. You have helped keep stores safe, shelves stocked and families
fed.

Watch out for scams
We all need to be vigilant following an increase in telephone scams.
Services affected by severe weather - Tandridge District ...
One current scam involves people, often males, calling residents, asking for help with
ongoing investigations about counterfeit cash at their local bank. The caller will often ask
residents to go to their bank to withdraw large amounts of cash, before the fraudster visits
their home to try to take the cash away to check it.

To help protect yourself from this and other scams, never give out any personal details, like
your bank account or National Insurance number, date of birth or any personal family
information.

Criminals have also been using the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination programme to try
to trick the public into handing over cash or financial details. Like other scams:

Don’t click on links or attachments in unexpected texts, e-mails or instant
      messages.
Challenge every request for your personal details.
Don’t respond to unexpected phone calls, hang up and check their claims
through a trusted method, like the NHS vaccination website.

Surrey Trading Standards has teamed up with Dr Sally Johnson from NHS Surrey
Heartlands Clinical Commissioning Group to produce a video giving advice on how to
prevent Covid-19 vaccine scams.

If you suspect a Covid-19 scam, please report it to the Crimestoppers Covid Fraud Hotline
on 0800 587 5030.

Residents have until 31 March to apply for funding to help make their homes warmer, cut
their bills and improve their green credentials.

Private and social housing landlords can also receive funding to cover two-thirds of the
cost of installing solid wall insulation up to £5,000.

A total of £6.2 million has been secured from central government for this project, in
addition to £750,000 confirmed by Surrey County Council.

Funding under the scheme is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so eligible
