LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Humber College is located within the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
Known as Adoobiigok, the “Place of the Alders” in Michi Saagiig language, the region is
uniquely situated along Humber River Watershed, which historically provided an integral connection
for Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples between the Ontario Lakeshore and the
Lake Simcoe/Georgian Bay regions. Now home to people of numerous nations, Adoobiigok continues
to provide a vital source of interconnection for all.

Putting Theory into Practice
Humber programs offer unique work-integrated learning opportunities to prepare students for their
future careers. Students apply what they’ve learned in class and in real-world environments through
a wide range of academic, community and industry partnerships. These work-integrated and
experiential learning opportunities may include field placements, practicums, clinical placements,
co-operative education work terms, internships, applied research projects or service learning.
You can work with industry partners to help solve real-world problems or work with us to explore
how to start your own business. Check the program pages on humber.ca to learn more about
specific opportunities.

and my personal life. Coming from an isolated community to
a big place, you have no one to go to and lose that sense of
                           community you’re so used to.
I knew they would know what I was going through. As Indigenous
people we are very in tune with ourselves and our culture.
Without that, we don’t have the same guidance and support.
