1. #PitchBlack2018 : Indian Air Force will set course for International Exercise Pitch
Black 2018 on 19 July 18 . Pitch Black is a biennial three week multi-national exercise
conducted at RAAF Base Darwin and RAAF Base Tindal, Australia. The exercise will be held
from 24 July to 18 August 2018 & Indian Air Force is participating with aircraft in this exercise
for the first time. The participating team consists of 145 air-warriors, with 4x Su-30 MKI, 1x C-
130, 1x C-17, Garud Commandos and observers with diverse specialisations.
Exercises such as Pitch Black are pivotal to ensuring operational exposure & for mutual
exchange of best practices towards enhancing Op capability. Exercise Pitch Black features a
range of realistic, simulated threats which are expected in a modern battle-space
environment and would provide an opportunity to test and improve force integration, utilising
one of the largest training areas in the world — Bradshaw Field Training Area and Delamere
Air Weapons Range in Australia.

4000 personnel from 16 different Nations, this is one of the biggest exercises & aims to

46. #ExPitchBlack18 : This is also 1st time that any ac of IAF has carried out a precision
airdrop in the Southern Hemisphere. The airdrop was highly successful & precise with load
landing 'on time on target'. This by no measure is a mean feat. Kudos to Men in Blue!!!
Today, IAF's C-130J accomplished yet another milestone showcasing its versatility &
Op employability. As part of the exercise, C-130J crew carried out a precise aerial delivery
exercise by employing CDS (Container Delivery System) technique.

The French Air Force & Royal Thai Air Force with the Su-30MKI. 56. #ExPitchBlack18 : During the exercise Pitch Black, Aircrew of 77 Sqn, RAAF got a ride in Su-30MKI (Flanker) aircraft of Indian Air Force. It was a great pleasure to fly friends on board the Indian Jets.
57. #ExPitchBlack18 : The Exercise Pitch Black 2018 culminates today. The main phase of ex commenced on 06 Aug 18, the IAF team achieved its set goals in the exercise & will de- induct on 18 Aug 18. 58. #ExPitchBlack18 : As the Flying Operations for Exercise Pitch Black 2018 comes to an end, the IAF team commenced preparation for de-induction. IAF contingent is on the way to India staging through Malaysia.

Forces 'GARUDS' along with RAAF special forces, undertook Combat Free Fall from C-27J
Spartan Aircraft. It's the first time that 'Team IAF' jumped in the Southern Hemisphere from a
Foreign Aircraft.

ethos of IAF Air-Warriors earned praises from all quarters during the exercise.65. #ExPitchBlack2018 : After successful participation in ExPitchBlack 2018, IAF contingent de-inducted from Australia & in the return leg carried out a bilateral exercise with Royal Malaysian Air Force from 20 - 22 Aug 18 at Subang Air Base, Malaysia. #ExPitchBlack2018 : IAF’s participation in ExPitchBlack a/w bilateral exercises with Indonesian&Malaysian AF provided an excellent opportunity to all the participants to operate in a multinational environment & take home some of best practices followed by AirForces around the world 66. IAF & RMAF #JointExercise :On 20 Aug 18, the crew of SU-30 & C-130 aircraft interacted with each other. It was an opportunity to exchange knowledge, good practices & methodology of operating the similar machines. Way ahead towards building strong relationships & collaborations.
67. IAF & RMAF #JointExercise : In a formal ceremony, exercise was inaugurated by Gp Capt CUV Rao, team leader IAF & Col Mahadzer, Ex director of RMAF. It's a platform to exchange Knowledge & Good practices with each other. Glimpses of inaugural ceremony.
