KILBRIDE LGFA JUNIOR C FINALISTS 2020 Captain: Jodie Ryan Age:24 Position: Corner back High point in your playing career to date: Making it to a ladies championship final A game to forget: Our 2nd championship game this year against Na Fianna, not our best performance. Toughest opponent in the final: Megan Peters or Aideen Reilly Player on your team to watch on for during the final: Serena Gavin. Favorite pre match meal: Usually pasta Three words to describe yourself: supportive, easygoing and positive A club you would like to see do well other than your own: I would love to see Dee Rangers B team come back stronger next year! Advise for young players : To be honest I go to them for advise.... But always have respect for your teammates, managers, referees and opposition. You can be a great player but without respect it’s taken away from you! And of course enjoy it! What does it mean to captain your club: It’s a huge honour to be given the responsibility of team cap- tain for a brilliant bunch of girls. The effort and commitment put in by each team member has been amaz- ing and I’m very proud to be captain of such a great team! Assessment of our championship to date: It has been a great championship for us to date. First up we met Trim and edged it by 2 points in a close match, I suspect Saturday will be just as close! We then came crashing back to earth with a defeat to a well-experienced Na Fianna team. We then travelled to Dee Rangers knowing that to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-final we would need a comprehensive win as the final table was likely to come down to points difference, which in the end it did. Our semi-final was an absolute titanic struggle against St Colmcilles. The lead ebbed and flowed between two evenly match teams and thankfully we just happened to be ahead at the final whistle.
TRIM LGFA JUNIOR C FINALISTS 2020 Claptain: Kate Dunne Age: 22 Position: full back High point in your playing career to date: reaching a ladies’ county final for the first time A game to forget: last year’s playoff with Slane Toughest Opponent in the final: The Kilbride number 14 Player on your team to watch on for during the final: Rachel McCormack Favourite pre match meal: Chilli Con Carne Three words to describe yourself: driven, stubborn, competitive A club you would like to see do well other than your own: Would love to see Dunboyne beat Simonstown in the ladies’ senior final Advice for young players: Give 100% in every single game no matter what, not only for yourself but for your team mates around you. What does it mean to captain your club: It’s an absolute honour to captain my club and captain this team. It’s been very tough not having an older ladies’ team to look up to in the club when we were younger and I think the girls on our team are now excellent role models for the younger players and I am delighted that I can captain such an amazing bunch of girls. Assessment of our championship to date: We faced Kilbride in the first round and they took the game from us last minute. We headed into the last quarter up 7 points and we obviously lost concentration and stamina and they dug their way back producing a win. We learned from this and in the last 3 games we haven’t taken our foot off the gas until the final whistle went. The second round saw us make the long trek over to Syddan to play Dee Rang- ers who are an experienced ladies club. Nonetheless we managed to beat them by 40+ points which was critical in the end when the semi final spots were decided on points difference. Next up we played Na Fianna who we have a long long history with and we were hungry to beat them. We did just that and in doing so really found our struc- ture and rhythm and most importantly our confidence which set us up nicely for the semi final at home to Sene- schalstown after topping our group. Again, Seneschalstown are a brilliant ladies club and when we played them last year in league, they had a few senior players playing with them and gave us a bad beating. I suppose we all had this in the back of our minds but in the past year we have gotten fitter stronger and indeed hungrier and from the whistle it was a constant battle between two evenly matched sides. We thankfully pulled away winning by 3 points and we are now set to play Kilbride in the final Saturday where we won’t be making the same mistake as last time round.

A game to forget: oh that’s a tough one I’d say it would have to be our last game against Moynalvey as it was our first loss in over a year we just didn’t fire off at all. Toughest Opponent in the final: US Player on your team to watch on for during the final: to be honest all our forwards are ones to watch but each girl from 1-15 on the Conard team are well capable. Favourite pre match meal: I’d often have a pasta dish with a coffee and some chocolate before any game Three words to describe yourself: hardworking, positive, never give up A club you would like to see do well other than your own: I suppose Rathkenny/Slane after we beat them last year in the final. What does it mean to captain your club: To captain this club is an absolute privilege and honour and I’m delight- ed to be a part of it All. Assessment of Championship to date: Definitely coming up to Junior B has been an eye opener for us and not the walk in the park some may have expected. we were well confident in all our ability in games and by far the toughest games we have had so far have been Gael Colmcille (always a great close battle) and Moynalvey. Joint Captain: Lisa Duffy Age: 32 Position: Midfield High point in your playing career to date: Winning two Senior Ladies Championship in 2006 & 2007 in Donegal, followed by Winning Junior C Ladies with Clonard Ladies in 2019 A game to forget: U16 All Ireland Final 2004, lost by 9 points to Cork Toughest Opponent in the final: Too tough to choose Player on your team to watch on for during the final: Lisa Foley Favourite pre match meal: Turkey burgers & sweet potatoes with peas Three words to describe yourself: Determined, Dogged & Delightful at times!! A club you would like to see do well other than your own: Rathkenny/Slane as we had a proper battle with them in 2019 Advice for young players: Train hard, play hard, self-discipline, belief and most of all “have fun”. What does it mean to captain your club: Being the blow in from Donegal, it’s a massive achievement to be the Cap- tain of such a great bunch of ladies. The ladies have such drive and ambition for success, in the short time that the team have been together. Hopefully with the extra years of experience on my side, I can drive and encourage the team, in additional to learning from the young skilful players making their way up the ranks, who teach me a thing or two!!
