For the past 48 years, Positive Maturity
has worked to enhance the lives of older
adults through social services and civic
engagement. Through our numerous
programs, we are able to reach more than
9,000 adults aged 50 and older in Blount,
Jefferson, Shelby and Walker counties
each year.

Our work culminates with our Top 50
Over 50 celebration. We honor 50
individuals over the age of 50 who
have made a significant impact in their
community through leadership, business,
philanthropy, civic engagement or a lifetime
of achievements. The event draws more than 500 attendees and has
become a highly sought-after designation.

By supporting this event, 100 percent of the proceeds from Top 50
Over 50 benefit the programs of Positive Maturity. Our programs are
vital to the health of the seniors we serve in our area. Our volunteers
who serve others report feeling healthier, less depressed and have
more meaningful daily activities.

That means for every $100 given, we can:

•   Purchase a month’s supply of life-sustaining medication for one or
    more seniors, who in turn will become community volunteers.
•   Support 10 individuals who are unemployed or underemployed
    through education, job counseling, training certification and
    computer classes for one month.
•   Support one individual in need of social services or food for one
    month.
•   Support our Foster Grandparent Program by paying one
    volunteer’s stipend for one week as they tutor, mentor and assist
    one to three children in need.
•   Support 200 volunteers for our RSVP Program for one day.
•   Pay one volunteer’s stipend for one week for our Senior
    Companion Program as they assist frail elderly individuals who are
    aging in their homes.
