Parks and recreation have an invaluable impact on communities and individuals. With screen time
increasing among, not only children, but adults, it becomes easy to fall into less active lifestyles. The
Cary Park District offers hundreds of recreation programs as well as 52 parks and miles of trail for
both active and passive recreation. We invite you this season to unplug from your devices and enjoy
your parks and open spaces or participate in the facilities and programs we offer.

                                                                                                                      2

Celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 5 by walking,
biking, or skating the 12 miles of trail within the Cary Park District.

National Trails Day, sponsored by the American Hiking Society, is the
country’s largest celebration of trails. This day increases awareness
about trails and celebrates the hard work and support of many people
and partners including volunteers, land agencies, and outdoor minded
businesses who take care of America’s trails.

There are approximately 12 miles of trail throughout the
community. The Cary Park District, Village of Cary, and

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art,
and Mathematics. In this Kitchen Science Series, kids will
experience science in a new way: delicious, relatable,
and fun! Kids will connect their STEAM knowledge to ev-
eryday activities and events and, as a result, deepen their
understanding of and interest in science. Our young sci-
entists are encouraged to ask questions, think critically,
experiment, explain their reasoning, read, write, create
models, and of course have fun with science.
