It seems this program gets more important
 and more exciting each year.

Our work continues to focus not just on the
elimination of the R-word but on the creation
of a new reality: inclusion for all people with
 intellectual and developmental disabilities at
school, in the workplace, and society in gen-
 eral.

Judging by our participation numbers, it seems
safe to assume the schools in South Dakota
are enthusiastic supporters of this mission.

 ATHLETE LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
What is an Athlete Leadership Council (ALC)?
We are a group of athletes who meet using a well-thought-
out agenda to discuss Special Olympics topics important to
us. We then make recommendations to Program leadership.

Formerly known as the Athlete Input Council, we have been
organized and meeting since 2013. Two members of the ALC
also serve on the SOSD Board of Directors.

Fellow athletes, if you have an idea or concern, talk to one of
us… let’s work together!

Meet your ALC members. We are here to serve YOU!
