Brushes:
When choosing brush sizes, consider the size of canvas you plan to paint.
For example, if you are painting a 3ft by 5ft canvas, you probably won't use a
tiny spotter or detail brush. Likewise, if you are working on a 16"x20" or
smaller canvas, you will need smaller brushes.

Keep in mind that brushes are very personal. So, don't be surprised if you
end up finding a favorite that's not on this list.

Here are a couple of excellent quality brush sets (at a really good price).
They include a variety of size and brush types.

                                        Mimik Hog Professional Synthetic
                                        Hog Bristle Brush Set

                                       Creative Mark Pro Stroke Powercryl
                                       Ultimate Acrylic Brush Set

Like everything else, there are several different grades of canvas.
Choose a gallery wrapped and pre-gesso’d, stretched canvas. We’ll go over
more information regarding canvas selection in class.

BEGINNER ACRYLIC PAINTING

14 Heavy Body Professional Acrylic Paints:
There are student or professional grade acrylics. I recommend purchasing the
heavy body paints. These paints are typically used by experts and professional
artists because they provide great texture, control and pigment load.
The 4 oz tube is fine—but the 8 oz is more economical.
You will need:

Blues: Greens:
Phthalo Blue Phthalo Green
Ultramarine Blue Sap Green
Cobalt Blue

Reds: Oranges: (Optional)
Alizarin Crimson Cadmium Orange
Pyrrole Red Transparent Orange
Cadmium Red Deep

Yellows: Browns: (Optional)
Cadmium Yellow Light Burnt Sienna
Cadmium Yellow Medium Raw Umber

Purples: Titanium White:
Dioxazine Purple Large 8 oz tube or up to a 16 oz jar

Palette Paint Keeper:
It has a resealable lid (like a large Tupperware tray), so you can keep your
paints moist from week to week. It saves you money, because you waste
less paint.
I recommend: Masterson’s StaWet Premier Palette
