Welcome Letter
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the organizing committee I am delighted to invite you to the
Combined French Lebanese Pediatric Orthopedic Conference under the umbrella of
the Lebanese Orthopeadic Society (LOS) in partnership with the Société Française
d’Orthopédie Pédiatrique (SOFOP). The event takes place in the prestigious 146-
year old Saint Joseph University and its faculty of Medicine.
Longtime known as the East gate to the West, Lebanon offers an intriguing
combination of contrasts in all fields. Land of the long-living Cedars of God, and
Byblos the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, Lebanon contains a wide variety of
landscapes including high snowy mountains, fertile valleys, and a beautiful coast that lunges the
Mediterranean Sea. Hometown of the Phoenicians, Lebanon’s name was associated throughout
history with the first alphabet, his longstanding friendship and solid bounds to France, the hard-
working and business oriented citizens, as well as the multiple conquests and wars.
This conference is one of a series of combined scientific meetings that the SOFOP organizes with
other Pediatric Orthopedic Societies or groups all over the world and this year Lebanon and the
Lebanese Pediatric Orthopedic group were chosen to host the event. This is a unique opportunity
for the Lebanese and the Middle Eastern Orthopedic community to share their experience and
knowledge in the management of children with orthopedic conditions.
May I take this opportunity to welcome all the speakers and moderators from Europe, North
Africa and the Middle East, and thank our sponsors without whom this high level conference
couldn’t be possible.
