The next tournament venue is Lake Palace, Thekkady.
Lake Palace, a former summer palace of the King of Travancore, is situated on an island in the middle
of the Periyar Lake - 20 minutes by boat from the mainland. Located inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve,
this is where the British Viceroys and Governor-Generals used to take time off from the world to listen
to the call of the wild. This lakeside jungle resort is ideal for guests to watch elephant herds playing by
the lakeside or take a trek across the jungle in the trail of the majestic tiger. Life couldn’t get any more
royal than this.

The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres is a favourite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist's paradise. Egrets, Darters, Herons, Teals, Waterfowls, Cuckoo, Wild Duck and migratory birds like the Siberian Stork visit here in flocks and fascinate all visitors. 9 rounds Rapid Chess Open Tournament by Swiss System
Time control: 2 x 20 minutes with increment of 5 seconds per move
Results are not rated on the ELO list
Tie break – Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz, SB, Direct Encounter, Greatest number of wins, Number
of wins with black pieces
Decisions by the Tournament Committee shall be final
APPLYING FOR THE CHESS HOUSEBOAT 2023
Special Indian Package (without accommodation) is offered to a maximum of 30 persons
only. Players can also register their partners/ friends for the same payment (Rs 30000).
Organizers hold the right to accept the applicants.
IMPORTANT: Special Indian Package is offered exclusively to Indian residents:
1. Unrated players & accompanying persons
2. Players above 55 years & accompanying persons
3. Players below 15 years & accompanying persons
