3Frenchman Bay Library
August and September 2021
Hours: Mondays 2-6 and Saturdays 10-2.
The library continues to be open by appointment. The reason for this is the small space. We don’t want
people to get too crowded which sometimes happens. If you are out and about and don’t have an appoint-
ment it is okay to stop and see if there are any patrons in the library. If there are not, we will gladly let you
in to browse. The first two hours we are open tend to be the busiest. The second two hours are quieter.
FOOD PANTRY: We continue to accept donations for the Food Pantry located downstairs
by the Thrift Store. Hours are Mondays 2-6. Tuesdays 1-5 and Saturdays 10-2.
Did you know that the library does not collect fines for overdue books? Instead, we ask
that if you have overdue books, you make a donation to the food pantry.
NEW ARRIVALS: The following books are on order but have not yet arrived:
We will post on Facebook as they arrive…
The Field House Wood, Robin Clifford biography of Rachel Field
How to Raise an Elephant McCall Smith, Alexander fiction
The Madness of Crowds Penny, Louise mystery
The Ride of Her Life Letts, Elizabeth biography
Choose Me Gerritsen, Tess fiction
The Exiles Kline, Christina Baker fiction
The Hollywood Spy MacNeal, Susan Elia mystery
We Begin at the End Whitaker, Chris fiction
We have openings on our Board of Directors. Call Myra Hornberger at 422-8931.
We need of volunteers to help out with a variety of jobs. Call us to see if there is a job
that matches your talent, skills, interests…
Thank you to all who contributed to our back to school collection box. All items have been
delivered to grateful staff and students.
Attention all knitters and crocheters! We have a plethora of yarn at the library and are in-
viting you to drop by to choose your favorite yarn to make a 10x10 square. We are hoping
that you make more than one square. As soon as we collect 72 squares, we will need one
of you to join them into a queen-sized afghan. The resulting afghan will be raffled off to
benefit the library. We would like all squares to be turned in by October 30, 2021. We an-
ticipate starting the raffle as soon as the afghan is assembled and hope to be all finished
just before Christmas
Writers’ Group will start in the Fall.

Greetings from RSU #24,
I hope this email finds each of you enjoying the final days of summer. It is hard to believe that we already
have students and staff in our buildings. Where did the summer go? The energy and excitement that the stu-
dents and staff bring to the building is palpable!
The RSU Board of Directors approved our required return to school plan. In short, the plan has it that mask-
ing in our schools is optional. However, masking on our buses is required. We will do our best to honor the
recommended 3 foot distancing. Our goal is to get all students back into our buildings as that is the best op-
portunity for each to be successful. We will continue with our specific and intentional cleaning measures
that were implemented at the onset of the virus. If you have any specific questions regarding the reentry
plan, please check the website (www.rsu24.org) for a link to the official plan. A reminder that flexibility and
understanding will be needed on the part of everyone as we navigate our way through uncharted waters.
The new Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus building project is moving along at a fast pace! If you get a
chance to drive by the construction site, it will be worth your time. It is exciting to see the progress of the
building. We are on pace to welcome students into the new building for the 2022-2023 school year. This will
be an awesome opportunity for our students!
Don't forget to check out the Sumner Adult Education Fall Catalog. There are a lot of great learning oppor-
tunities for the adults in our communities!
I appreciate the continued support of our schools. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in
touch with me at meastman@rsu24.org. I hope that you all continue to be safe and well.
Sincerely,
Michael Eastman, Superintendent
