3 | 2020-2021 Towson Chamber Guide & Business DirectoryPresident’s Message
#TowsonStrong – Despite the pandemic,
Towson continues to be a great place to live,
work, and visit. The city is the center for
Baltimore County government, healthcare,
higher education, and retail shopping. We
continue to transform this suburban city to a
destination with several development and
expansion projects, which bring new
multi-unit apartment complexes, two
Hilton-branded hotels, a Whole Foods grocery
store, expansion of Towson University to the
Armory, thousands of square feet of retail,
and the Towson Circulator.
The Towson Chamber of Commerce is one of
the most active voices for the Towson area,
with over 300 members. Members include a
wide range of businesses – from resident
associations and small family-owned
businesses to large multi-million-dollar
property owners and developers. The
Chamber provides opportunities for members
to network, collaborate, serve the community,
and express their thoughts and concerns with
local officials.
Nancy Hafford, the Executive Director for the Towson Chamber, and the Board of
Directors work tirelessly to serve its members and are committed to the success
and sustainability of area businesses. We invite you to engage with our members
by participating in events (in-person and virtual), joining a committee, or
patronize a member business.
Our organization (Towson Town Center) has been a proud member of the
Towson Chamber of Commerce for several years and I have seen the direct impact
it can have on creating connections among members. I am honored to serve as the
2020-2021 President and remember to stay #TowsonStrong!
Sincerely,
Emily Brophy, President
4 | 2020-2021 Towson Chamber Guide & Business DirectoryWhat is The Towson Chamber of Commerce?
The Towson Chamber is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to serving its members since 1964.
The Chamber takes a leadership role in improving the Towson area’s quality of life. The Chamber does this
through promotion and support of our businesses, training and skill building, advocating for Towson on a
local and state level, encouraging community involvement through events and activities, and contributing over
$100,000 a year to streetscape improvements.
Through the promotion and support of these areas, the Chamber is positioning our community for a bright and
prosperous future. We strive to administer programs and projects that benefit our area not only now, but also
for years, decades, and generations to come.
The Chamber does not do this alone. Hundreds of members and volunteers put forth countless hours to assist
in the program of work for the Chamber, resulting in a community that is the envy of others in Maryland and
outside our state’s borders. Without the efforts of our members, the Chamber’s mission to promote the
business environment in Towson could not be achieved.
The Towson Chamber of Commerce has a proven track record of helping businesses grow in this area for over
five decades. We have the tools members need and the power to open doors to new opportunities, more
customers, and greater success. Our Chamber can put members in touch with hundreds of potential clients and
customers. A membership can provide immediate return on your investment with networking and marketing
opportunities, small business and professional support, information and governmental representation.
The Towson area communities and our Chamber of Commerce pride themselves on their strong
affiliations. Continual enhancement of these partnerships is made to develop a progressive and outstanding
community in which to work and reside.
One of our key functions is to serve as a unified voice for Towson businesses, both at public hearings and as a
representative to the other Towson groups which all share a common goal to assure planned growth in Tow-
son. We strive to strengthen existing businesses as well as to help new ventures succeed. One way our Chamber
promotes local companies is through the publication and distribution of an annual business directory. We also
promote on our Chamber website and Facebook page, in addition to two other event websites and five
Facebook event pages.
Another function of the organization is to coordinate and promote special events, which help to bring visitors
to the Towson area. In turn, this provides us with the ability to foster Towson’s close-knit community in our
mission to make Towson the best place to live, work, and play.
All area businesses are encouraged to join the Towson Chamber of Commerce so their views and opinions can
be expressed and to take advantage of the many networking opportunities available to members. For more
information about membership in the Towson Chamber of Commerce, Inc. please contact our office at
410-825-1144.
