OVID-19 might have put a pause
to many activities - including our
students visiting the library to
borrow storybooks. However, reading is still
a much valued activity in Bendemeer. To
support our avid readers, the school
introduced the Read with Ben - Book Stop in the canteen.
The Book Stop was created to bring a snippet of the library to the
canteen so that students could pick up storybooks from it. Students
can keep the storybook with them and return it when they are done.
Students are strongly encouraged to pick up another storybook to
read. This is part of the school’s initiative to promote a reading
culture among our students.
The Book Stop also provides our students with access to more books
to read and encourage them to read extensively, thus creating a
book-rich environment in BPS. Students are encouraged to partake
in a book together with their breakfast, recess or even lunch!

19 situation. During the pre COVID-19 period, our teachers had discussions
related to e-pedagogy and special educational needs during the
professional development sessions. One of our teachers, Mdm Wong Xiao Lee,
presented her lesson on Using Flipgrid to Enhance Oral Assessment at the Digital
Age Learning Conference in February.
When COVID-19 struck, our teachers conducted online professional sharing and
discussion sessions during and post Circuit Breaker period. A one-day learning
symposium was organised in Term 3 for the Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to
present their respective projects on learning centres activities, differentiated
instruction, etc. During the concurrent sessions (online and on-site in line with
Safe Management Measures), teachers had the opportunities to share good
teaching practices and spar ideas with one another. For the post symposium
programme, a poster gallery was set up in the Staff Room where the PLTs
displayed their project posters for all to view. We believe that having such a

annual event jointly organized by the Ministry of

Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee
(TLLPC). MTLS has gone digital in August this year as

The Malay Language teachers from our Mother Tongue Languages
Department were invited to share on how they engage our
students to learn the Malay Language through authentic learning
stations. They showcased the use of ICT trail as a platform for
rich language and cultural holistic learning experience to take
place outside the classroom. Congratulations to the Malay

Through a writing and drawing activity conducted in Term 3,
students in Bendemeer Primary School reflected on how

encourage others in celebration of our nation’s 55th birthday.
24 pieces of students’ artwork have been selected to
