If you have your own camera you would like used for photographs, a staff member can be allocated to

Venue
Ceremony
We have a range of ceremony locations to choose from, ensuring you will find the perfect spot
to say ‘I do!’. Your Wedding Coordinator will meet you when you arrive on the island to show you
each location and assist with any queries you may have. We would also be more than happy to
discuss venues with you in advance.
Locations include:
• Wedding Bure on the beach
• Lawn area
• Sand Bank - Available only at low tide (one hour before/one hour after). An extra cost of FJ$1000
is applicable for setup and boat transportation. Please note the maximum limit for a Sand Bank
wedding is 40 people.
For ceremonies on Malolo Lailai Island, the transfer of guests to venues by buggy or Bula Bus is
complimentary.

Set-up
Prices include white table cloths, white chair covers, seasonal tropical flowers from Malolo Lailai
Island and candles. Extras such as sashes, LED lights, and lanterns must be provided by bride and
groom. Our staff would be happy to set these up, with prior direction, free of charge.

Wedding Themes & Styling
A story from behind the scenes…
Our four styles offer a different look and feel to cater to all tastes. They
are simple and beautiful with the majority of elements made in Fiji or
found on Malolo Lailai Island. Where possible we try to use ‘Rise Beyond
the Reef’ for Fijian made items. Supporting the ‘Rise Beyond The Reef’
initiative ensures the passing of knowledge of these traditional crafts to
future generations. Hand-made by artisans in the remote villages of Ba,
Nadi (Viti Levu) and Macuata (Vanua Levu), these items are not only
authentic but support communities in areas where poverty is prevalent.
The Bar
One of the most important features at any wedding is the bar! Our
wedding bar was made by Plantation Island Resort staff and is perfect
for after ceremony refreshments or use at your reception. The bar is
styled with fresh tropical flowers and is perfect for cocktails, coconuts
and champagne.

There are five types of flowers available:
• Red and pink gingers - available all year round
• Heliconias in dark orange & black, yellow & pink and light orange - also available all year round
• Dendrobium orchids in white, or shades of purple - in high demand and low supply between the
months of July and October; the most popular flowers for weddings
• Pink anthurium - seasonal. There are other colour variations such as red, white and green but these
are not always available
• Frangipani is another popular option but is seasonal and weather dependent. Beautiful arrangements
of this quintessentially tropical bloom look and smell great, however some florists discourage the use
of these flowers as they have a tendency to wilt and brown quickly after picking.

22Wedding Conditions & Requirements
Deposit and Payment
To secure an available date an advance deposit of FJ$500 is required. Please note we only hold one wedding per day so
dates are not able to be held without deposit.
50% of the entire wedding package is required 60 days prior to your wedding date & full payment no later than one
month prior.
Wedding Cancellation Policy
The following charges for the Wedding will be levied if the booking is partially or totally cancelled:
• Within 60 days of wedding date • 50% of total wedding cost
• Within 30 days of wedding date • No refund
Marriage License
All application form together with any necessary documents pertaining to conduct marriage in Fiji must be signed or
witnessed before Justice of Peace / Commissioner of Oath / Notary public from your country of residence.
• Copy of current passports
• Divorce decree (if divorced)
• Birth certificates
• Death certificate (if widowed)
• Both single status certificate or certificate of legal impediment – sign & stamp by Justice of Peace
• If there has been a name change, you will also need to provide supporting documentation for this.
• Scanned copy of all the documents has to be sent to the Resort at least 45 days prior to your arrival, we will send it to
the registry for vetting and authentication to ensure that nothing is missing out.
Please note that upon arrival into Fiji, the bride and groom are required to visit the Marriage Registry Office
(in Nadi town or Lautoka) to submit an application for and collect a special license to get married. This special license
is required for you to get married, so must be completed before your wedding day. You must also have the original
copies of all your documents when you visit the Marriage Registry Office.
We recommend that you plan to spend at least 1 full day in Nadi at the beginning of your holiday so that you have
time to visit the Marriage Registry Office. You may need to factor in the extra time if the wedding date is during the
weekends, public holidays or peak periods.

Documents required for a Catholic Wedding:
• Baptism Certificate • Freedom to Marry Certificate
• Pre-nuptial enquiry form, signed and • Notification that the couple has had
endorsed by the couples parish Priest their pre-marriage instruction course.
Apostle Seal
If you require an Apostle Seal on your Marriage Certificate (required by all countries other than Australia and New Zealand),
the Wedding Coordinator will need to personally take the original certificate to be Apostle Sealed. This can ONLY by the
Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs. A cost of FJ$300 is required for the travel expenses of the Wedding Coordinator.

MV Malolo Lailai is available for private, 24 hour transfers between Port Denarau, Plantation,
Musket Cove and Lomani. MV Malolo Lailai can cater for up to 21 passengers comfortably. This service
is best suited for groups wanting a more personalised transfer service, and those wanting to travel to
the island outside of Ferry operating times. Malolo Cat is proud to offer the newest and most advanced
water taxies in Fiji, at better rates than any competitor. Please note, guests are required to arrange their
own taxi to and from Port Denarau.
