            who are looking at:

            •   Completing a Certificate,
                WACE and going on to further
                study at TAFE/work;
            •   Starting an apprenticeship at
                school and completing WACE;
            •   Bridging to University
            •   Leaving school before
                graduating.

THREE DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM

In Year 11 students will complete
four courses at school on
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

1. English
2. Career and Enterprise
3. Maths Essentials or Applications
   (Numeracy a must post school).
4. An elective – to be determined

TAFE and Work Placements make up the other
two (2) courses needed for WACE on Thursday/Friday.

WORK PLACEMENTS

        Work placements are a
        highlight for all
        concerned and count
        towards WACE.
        Students may complete 200 –
        1000 hours over the two years.
WORK PLACEMENTS

         Some students who do
         well in their placements are
         offered full time
         apprenticeships and leave
         school during the course.

         A few start School Based
         Traineeships and School
         Based Apprenticeships
         while at school.
HOW TO APPLY

 Enrol in six (6) courses for school in
  2022 assuming you will be here five
  days.

 If you get into a three-day VET
  Pathway we will change your
  timetable. If not you still have the
  subjects you want.

 See Mr Lucas for an interview time.
EVERYONE CAN APPLY – BUT….

 TAFE decides who is accepted into their
  courses. They will look at school records
  especially attendance and behaviour.
 In some cases students have a reason for
  low attendance – you need to talk to Mr
  Lucas.
 TAFE doesn’t accept all applicants.
 You may need to
  apply again in Year 12.
APPLICATION PROCESS

Include:
     latest school report;
     a student statement (why you want to do the course).
     student “USI”;
     supporting documentation: resume, references, work
      experience, school certificates, sporting certificates, surf
      lifesaving etc.;
     Follow the “Application Guide” given to you at the
      interview with Mr. Lucas.
   You can put in several applications (Different TAFE’s).
   Places are limited so your application must be good.
   If you are late you go on a wait list – it’s hard to get in from there.
   Only submit copies of documents.

 application must on a USB and in Microsoft Word format.
APPLICATION PACK
CONSTRUCTION STUDENTS

 Students who are successful in an application for
  a course in the Construction Industry will be
  notified and they must complete a “White Card”.
 White cards must be completed in 2021 to allow
  you to start in 2022. The school will be running a
  course through SMTAFE otherwise students can
  complete online.
 Without the White Card you cannot access
  building sites as part of work placement so you
  won’t be included in the course.
 CTF Scholarships are available.

directly. Your email address must
be accurate and is one that is
checked.

Make sure your contact
information on the application
forms is correct.

By the end of Term 4
we will know
– some will know earlier.
