Rogers’ Chocolates was founded in
1885 by Charles W. (Candy) Rogers.
With his wife, Leah, Charles
developed chocolate recipes that
made his small shop in Victoria a
favourite stop for travellers from all
over the world. Faithful to his legacy,
over the years we have maintained
Charles’ commitment to the use of
the finest quality natural ingredients
in all of his time-honoured recipes.
Today, a taste of Rogers’ Chocolates
is truly a taste of chocolate history.

The first Rogers’ Chocolates were made in 1885 by
Charles Rogers in the back of his grocery shop. In
1903, he constructed a building across the street and
subsequently moved his chocolate shop into that
location in 1917. If you look closely at the picture on this
tin you can see the original Rogers’ Chocolate shop on
the left side of the street and what would later be his
permanent location (W.B. SHAKESPEARE) on the right
side of the street. Today, the building is designated a
heritage site and remains our home. Charles Rogers and
his wife Leah, gave the City of Victoria many wonderful
gifts, including our 913 Government Street store and
of course, our world famous, hand-wrapped chocolates.
We hope that you enjoy our chocolates, and if you have
the chance, to one day visit our flagship store in Victoria.
