Lytton Creek (K71086) 50,944 hectares (estimate) Out of Control

RESOURCES:
There are 90 personnel, 34 pieces of heavy equipment, six helicopters,
an Incident Management Team and Structure Protection personnel.
UPDATE:
Smoky skies, precipitation, lower temperatures and higher relative
humidity has resulted in decreased fire activity in recent days.
Crews have constructed a hand guard on the west side of the
Thompson River, near Goldpan Park where some fire activity has been
observed.
On the east side of the Botanie Valley, near Sleetsis Creek, crews
completed a hand ignition on July 30 and are now engaged in mop-up.
Helicopters have been engaged in bucketing operations on the west
side Botanie Valley however were unable to do so today due to
reduced visibility from low-lying smoke. Fire progression continues to
the north towards Laluwissin Creek FSR. Heavy equipment is working to
construct a fire guard to north of the fire by widening existing roads.
On the southeast flank, fire activity has been decreased as a result of
smoky conditions shielding the fire from direct sun. Fire growth
continues to be to the south and southeast, in the Shackan Creek area. Lytton Creek wildfire (K71086) July 30, 2021
A control line has been established north of Agate and heavy
equipment is working to construct additional contingency guard north
of Nuaitch Creek. This guard will be connected to existing roads and creeks that serve as natural fuel breaks.
