Happy New Year SkyHawk family!
As we embark on 2018, we continue to celebrate our 25th year of making a difference in the
Omaha community.
We kicked off the first semester with the largest enrollment in school history, and the highest
attended and fundraised Angel Flight. We celebrated state championships in volleyball and boys
cross country, and we were state runners-up in girls cross country and football. Academically,
we saw the math team win state in the probe competition and in quiz bowl. Two students were
named National Merit semifinalists.
One of the last impressions of 2017 was our school-wide Advent drive. The fierce competitive
spirit that is the hallmark of our SkyHawks definitely came out in an impactful way. More than 2,000
nonperishable food items, 3,500 diapers, dozens of winter coats, hats and gloves, and more than
$1,100 worth of new toys and personal care items were collected by Skutt Catholic homerooms.
“Drive” is a fitting term, as I believe all SkyHawks have a drive to MAKE A DIFFERENCE daily.
Beginning in January, we will be conducting a comprehensive survey of the entire school Jeremy Moore
President
community to study the feasibility for a capital campaign. This planning study will enable us to
determine potential support for proposed projects as we look to improve and expand our campus
to meet the demand for quality, Catholic education. If we, as a community, choose to move
forward, the planning study will also provide information to identify prospective campaign leaders
and to establish a realistic campaign goal.
Be on the lookout for a letter providing additional details about the prospective campaign goals
and information about how to participate in the study. I value your feedback, and your insights will
help plan for the future of Skutt Catholic. The Steier Group, our development firm, will compile
this information and present it to Skutt Catholic leaders. At that time, we will make an informed
decision on how to move forward.
This process is extremely important, and will form and impact the future of our school. I encourage
each member of our community to participate. I appreciate your support and generosity with our
advancement efforts. These initiatives allow our exceptional staff to deliver the best Catholic
education possible to our students.
Please review the great accomplishments the school has achieved during the past few months
in this issue, and celebrate the many milestones our alumni have achieved as well. I welcome
everyone to attend the many events we have planned this semester, and help us continue to
celebrate the 25th anniversary of the school, “Making a Difference since 1993”.
God’s blessings always, and Go SkyHawks!
Jeremy J. Moore
OUR LEGACY | 2Alumni Letter from Alumni President Greetings from the Skutt Catholic Alumni Association! As you know, this year, we celebrate Skutt Catholic’s 25th Anniversary. Many of you have seen the transformation our school has taken over the years. It has been a journey! For others, your adventure has just begun. My hope is that Skutt Catholic has made a lasting difference in your life - whether it’s been one, ten, or 25 years since your graduation. Over the past 25 years, more than 3,100 students have graduated from Skutt Catholic. In order to best serve our alumni, the school, and the Skutt Catholic community, the Alumni Association is exploring new directions. Our goal is to engage our alumni in the Skutt Catholic community. We want to provide opportunities for our alumni to gather, get involved, and see all the amazing things happening at Skutt Catholic today. Our board consists of representatives that span the 25 years of the school’s history. Along with myself, our Skutt Catholic Alumni Association board members include: Amy Moylan Sauser ‘00, Matt Nelson Elizabeth Kraemer ‘02, Kelsey Sievers Huber ‘09, and Austin Evans ‘13. Alumni Association President Please contact us if you would like to be more involved with the Alumni Board or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you. Email us at skuttcatholicalumni@gmail.com. You can also follow us on Facebook; we have an alumni page and an alumni group. Have a wonderful start to 2018! We hope to see you soon, Matt Nelson ‘07 Alumni Association President Alumni Homecoming Picnic Skutt Catholic welcomed alumni of all ages and their families back to the school during Homecoming week again this year, with the annual Alumni Homecoming Picnic. Prior to the homecoming football game, the auxiliary gym was packed with alumni and their families enjoying a fried chicken dinner. The bounce house was popular with the little ones, while the adults spent time catching up with their former SkyHawk classmates. The Alumni Association Board members were on-hand to greet guests and survey alumni about what types of future events the association should sponsor. 3 | SKUTT CATHOLIC

Angel Flight
2017 Raising Over $500,000
On Saturday, September 23, more than 730 Skutt Catholic
alumni, faculty, staff and supporters gathered to celebrate
the school’s 25th anniversary at the annual Angel Flight
fundraising dinner and auction. The special event raised
more than $500,000 to support the 770 students attending
Skutt Catholic this year.
According to Skutt Catholic president, Jeremy Moore, this
year’s landmark event enjoyed record-breaking attendance
(up from 500 last year).
“There’s a great energy at the school this year,” said Moore.
“Celebrating 25 years as a Skutt Catholic family is coinciding
with our highest enrollment to date.”
“The enthusiasm translated into a record-breaking event for
Skutt Catholic,” he continued.
“Honoring one of our very first and current faculty members,
Keith Engelkamp, along with his wife, Gretchen, was
a big draw for our entire community as well,” he said.
“The Engelkamps have been spark plugs since the very
beginning.”

Silver Anniversary Theme
With a theme of Angel Flight 2017 - All that glitters shines,
the school was converted into an elegant venue, complete
with valet parking and lampposts lining the walkway to
the entrance. Guests were greeted by an 8-foot silver
25 years sign in the commons where silent auction
items were displayed. Passage to the gym/ ballroom was
draped in black and silver for a walk down memory lane:
lighted posters highlighted 25 years of Skutt Catholic
history. Booklets featuring a detailed school timeline were
on each seat.
Catered by Brandeis Catering, dinner was sliced, roasted
tenderloin of beef with a Cabernet reduction sauce and
fully loaded stuffed chicken breast, served with green
beans with red pepper strips and red skin bliss potatoes.
Dessert was chocolate raspberry mousse torte and New
