2018 Grower Information Guide - Cotton Seed Distributors
How do I order seed?

After completing a Grower Agreement growers simply work with their local approved CSD agent to work through the requirements for their own operations.
A range of tools and information are available at www.csd.net.au to assist growers and consultants to make informed decisions.

Summary
The CSD agent confirms that the grower has an effective Grower Agreement. If this is not the case, agent facilitates the completion of a Grower Agreement.
This process is electronic and the grower will receive a copy of Grower Agreement for their records.

The CSD agent then assists the grower to complete a grower seed order. This is done on a farm by farm (for growers with multiple farms) basis noting the
following mandatory information:

• Grower Agreement number.

• CSD variety and seed treatment.

• Quantity requirements (20kg bags and/or 800kg bags).

Irrevocable seed orders
CSD cotton seed orders are irrevocable once confirmed by CSD. However, if any errors are discovered after confirmation, please contact your agent
immediately and every effort will be made to assist in rectifying the problems.

Planting seed supply calendar
CSD is again offering Early Order and Regular Order pricing.

The Early Order #1 date of 27 June 2018 is to ensure that seed is available for growers in Central Queensland who want to plant in early August. Orders
under this program need to be dispatched from Wee Waa between 26 July 2018 and 3 September 2018. Growers not from Central Queensland are welcome
to order under this program.

The Early Order #2 date of 2 August 2018 is to ensure that seed is available to growers to plant in traditional planting windows. Orders under this
program need to be dispatched from Wee Waa between 3 September 2018 and 8 October 2018.

The Regular Order program applies to all seed orders after 2 August 2018. All orders under this program need to be dispatched from Wee Waa prior to 31
December 2018.

CSD Industry Support Program summary
• CSD strongly supports the dryland cotton industry and those growers who wish to grow dryland cotton.

• If you don’t pick your crop (excluding crop removed through hail damage) CSD will provide a $ for $ credit toward next seasons cotton seed.

• Secure a TUA (Technology User Agreement) from your local Technology Service Provider (most major merchandise resellers are TSPs).

• Nominate 5% or 50% upsrayed Roundup Ready Flex® cotton refuge option.

• Register on the CSD website www.csd.net.au/isp by 30th November 2018. Failure to register will void any claims.

• Order your planting seed, at your normal dryland planting rate, as either Sicot 714B3F or Sicot 748B3F (or Sicot 746B3F in designated areas) plus your
choice of Roundup Ready Flex® refuge seed at the Regular Order price. For dryland cotton fields planted post the 30 November, please contact your local CSD
Extension and Development Agronomist to allow inclusion into the promotion

• As this is a dryland cotton program, irrigating any crop registered within this program post establishment will make the offer null and void.

• All normal TUA terms and responsibilities are unchanged.

• If you believe your crop is not worth harvesting for any reason other than hail damage (i.e. not economically viable) please contact your local CSD Extension
and Development representative prior to 20th March 2019 to arrange a crop inspection. If approved you will receive a credit for the equivalent value of
planting seed for next season on the condition that you destroy the crop and do not harvest. Your crop MUST be inspected before you start to remove the
crop.

• Any credit provided must be taken as seed in the 2019-20 season and planted on the same farm.

CSD Ambassador Program

About
The CSD Ambassador Network Program is an initiative of the CSD Extension & Development team that aims to boost the identification, extension and
adoption of crop growth and management practices which assist the delivery of CSD’s five year strategic plan goal of increasing cotton lint yields by two
bales per hectare by 2020.

A key focus of the Ambassador Network program is the interaction of management techniques and conditions which result in the more efficient production
of consistent high yielding crops. Through the program, CSD’s E&D team collaborate with growers and other industry co-operators to develop a network of
commercial scale field or trial sites across each of the major cotton growing regions, which are intensively monitored throughout the season, the crop data
analysed and benchmarked, and the findings communicated to the industry.

Heading into its fifth season, the CSD Ambassador Network has enabled comparisons to be made across different districts, climatic conditions and
management types. Additionally, the data set can be broken into yield performance to compare the similar characteristics of high yielding crops.

      Key aims:

      • Align CSD extension initiatives with the CSD Strategic Plan
goal of increasing yield by 2 bales per hectare by 2020, and
improve dryland cotton productivity by 20%.

      • Develop an extension and benchmarking framework which will
      allow for:

           - Key cotton growth metrics to be identified and tested.

           - The development and extension of regionally specific
      		 management practices.

      • Develop a platform for the examination of leading farming
      practices.

           - Identification and extension of farming practices.

           - Learn through shared experiences.

      • Provide a platform for future technology, product development
      and integration.

Current cotton farming key learning categories include:

      • Land preparation practices.

      • Crop establishment.

      • Application of FastStart™ cotton recommendations.

      • Crop nutrition.

      • Crop water use.

      • Yield and quality.

FastStart™ is a collaboration between Syngenta and Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) that combines world leading cotton
genetics, chemistry and technologies, resulting in strong, healthy establishment and robust growth in the early stages of a
crop’s life up until flowering.

The FastStart™ research and development program is funded through a contribution from the sale of CSD seed treated
with Syngenta’s cotton seed care range. It addresses key grower and industry challenges such as the control of insect pests
and diseases, as well as screening adjacent technologies to help drive yield potential and minimise risks associated with
establishing cotton in Australia.
