2020 ONLINE AUCTION October 2 - 5th - www.FallClassicSale.com Ph. 403-770-1544 - Fall Classic Sale
Chairman’s Message - Gavin Pearson
For 25 years the Canadian Warmblood Alberta Chapter has hosted the Fall
Classic Breeders Sale. Over those years the Fall Sale became known to buyers
across North America as an auction to attend to see what quality warmblood
riding horses, mares, young stock and embryos would be presented for
auction. This year marks The Fall Sales 26th year running and will be run as
a fully online auction.

An extraordinary effort is needed to ensure these sales are well presented
and showcase the horses in the best light. Jennette Coote, of MJ farms has
over the years chaired the sale and spearheaded its success. Taking on the
Chair this year was a great honour and I knew I couldn’t continue without
the great team which is the Fall Classic Sale Committee. I want to express
my gratitude and appreciation to the Sale Committee members, Coreen
Jamieson, Rebecca Beechinor, Lorrie Jamieson, Doreen Kulcsar, Shauna
Cook and Chris Gould. I especially want to thank my Co-Chair, Katrina van
den Bosch, the Sale Administrator, Barb Easthom, who took on the huge
responsibility of that role and ensured the smooth running of the operations.
Lastly thank you to Jennette Coote, who even after stepping down from
chair still is a huge asset to the Sale Team. The sale committee have planned
to make this first Online Fall Classic Sale Auction as successful as the Fall
Classic Sale has been and deciding to move it online this year couldn’t have
been possible without ClipMyHorse Auctions. Much success thus far has
come from the volunteers and support from CWHBA members and breeders,
and special recognition to Klondike Victory Farm, Old Gate Farm, and
Valleyfield Farm for their support. Also the Sale is once again appreciative
of the support it receives from Elite Three, a high performance hemp based
feed supplement company, as the Sales title sponsor. Horses presented have
all been professionally videoed and photographed by Gearhead media and
Lorrie Jaimeson at Old Gate Farm or Valleyfield Farm.

This year’s collection represents some of the best international pedigrees,
such as Quick Star, DallasVDL, Chacoon Blue, Baloubet du Rouet, Cardento
VDL, Concorde, Darco, Donnerhall, Ferro, Weltmeyer. I am delighted with
this years achievement and presentation and hope you will enjoy Fall Classic
Sales 26th year and its first year Online!

Proceeds will go to the Mara
Coote-Freeman Scholarship
fund for Exercise Riders at Olds
College.

This was the last program that
Mara developed and she was very
proud of the accomplishments of
the students.

by Mara Coote-Freeman
Mara Coote-Freeman was a
founding member of CWHBA, an
esteemed senior judge, our pioneer
into the digital world as our first
web master, a past national and
chapter director and for many years manager of the CWHBA booth at Spruce Meadows

Mara’s love for the horse took her far beyond that and her volunteerism within the horse
industry was legendary.
For six years Vice President on the Canadian Equestrian Federation Board responsible
for Breeds and Industry, founding member of the Canadian Horse Council, initiator of
the Horse Industry Association of Alberta, regional representative and Board member
of International Arabian Horse Association Half and Anglo Arabian Registry and more.

Professionally she used her teaching degree
to great advantage. Prior to her retirement in
2015 she managed the Continuing Education
program for Animal Science at Olds College
and their Race Track program in cooperation
with Horse Racing Alberta, which led to
her current appointment to that Board. All
this, while part of the dynamic duo that has
                                          operated MJ Farms since 1977.

This impressive list in no way answers the
question why she was so sought after and
ultimately why she was so loved, it only
points to a person that was thoroughly engaged in her community. Perhaps the accolades
and remembrances pouring in give us some insight. Here are a few:

“Mara was such a caring person who always made me feel welcome. I will miss her
greatly.”

“You always remembered me, my name, my horses and you always had nothing but the

most positive things to say and were always encouraging me along in my journey…Your
infectious laugh and your kindness will never be forgotten”

“When starting out on our warmblood journey 25 years ago Mara and Jennette took the
time to encourage and educate us about the “warmblood”. Mara always had time for
a chat and loved talking to us about everything …Whenever you spoke with Mara you
genuinely felt valued. She always listened and provided words of inspiration or wisdom.”

“Your always original and informed perspectives on so many things always inspired me
to learn more and be better. When I told you last week that your ability to be a diplomat
while also speaking your mind was a unique gift, I meant that and more …”

“Mara was such a passionate and strong woman. She was a kind teacher but was firm
and expected the best from everyone. “

“Mara was so vibrant and full of life. She loved to travel, loved horses, loved her students,
and was a devoted friend…The horse community has lost a great advocate and mentor.
Her knowledge of so many areas of the industry will go on with her students and the likes
of those who worked with her like myself”.

The rest of the answer may be understood by looking at her multifaceted life trajectory.
Mara had two great passions and a myriad of interests, which she pursued with energy.
She was a traveller at a very young age. Born in Edmonton while her father was working
in Columbia, she had to wait a year until old enough to get the appropriate vaccines
before she and her mother could board a ship for the long journey. It was the first of
many trips.

Trips that took her, alone at first and later with Barry, to Europe, South East Asia, China,
Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and many more. She didn’t always take the
easy route. After teaching for a year in Australia, she made her way home the long way,
by bus from Singapore, through India, Pakistan, the middle east and on to Europe.

Her second passion began at pony club and never stopped. He father Bud, was an
enthusiastic standardbred breeder so MJ Farms combined their early Arabian and Anglo
Arabian breeding program with breeding and training trotters. This transitioned to
Trakehners and finally Warmbloods, but Warmbloods which carried the refinement and
quality of an Anglo foundation.

In light of all this, it is clear that her diverse life experiences and broad industry
knowledge equipped her for making an impact, but it was the power of her personality,
her gift for really listening, her creative mind and her genuine enthusiasm for making
things happen, coupled with her undeniable love for people that made her such a special
person. Regardless of what sphere of Mara’s life you were a part of, you felt her impact.

Knowing more about Mara simply increases the wonder at how much she contributed,
not just to the Canadian Warmblood or to the horse industry at large, but most importantly
to the individuals lucky enough to be her friend, her student or her colleague.

Let us hold her memory tight. Let us honour her legacy. Let us carry her spirit
forward.

Sire: QUIDAM BLUE is an international Grand Prix jumper (licensed and approved by the German
Hanoverian Verband): he is a gem to have in the stable, a beautiful athlete that loves his work
and his people. He started his show career winning the Five-Year-Old Western Canadian
Young Horse Championship. As a young head-turner. In 2014 he quickly entered the 1.50m
level with Olympic. Silver medalist Jill Henselwood. Together their highlights include Top 3
finishes as part of the Canadian Team at the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Bratislava , in the
Wild Card Smart Pack Grand Prix at Saugerties New York, winning the SynOil Energy
Services CSI** Cup at the Royal West in Calgary; he added numerous placings in the 1.60 m
       level in the following years.
Dam: BINI- BALOU is an Imported Oldenberg mare who before starting her breeding career had a
very successful sport career. Jumping to 1.45m and winning circuit champion in the high
amateurs at HITS thermal. Bini is the daughter of Balou du Rouet who is not only by far the
most successful son of his famous sire, the Olympic champion and three-time World Cup
winner Baloubet du Rouet, but also appears once again among the top 20 of the world's best
jumper sires according to the WBFSH ranking. He is also one of the 20 best eventing sires in
the world. Balou du Rouet owes this record, now set for three years, to the large number of
successful offspring he has produced, led by the individual World Championship and
European Championship bronze medallist as well as World Cup eighth-placed show-jumper
Bianca/Steve Guerdat/SUI and the European Championship gold and silver medallist and
individual ninth-placed eventer Billy the Red/Kristina Cook/GBR. Further guarantors of
success are: Saura de Fondcombe/Nadja Peter Steiner/SUI, European Championship team
bronze winner, Brilliant du Rouet/Liubov Kochetova/RUS
Notes: NIKITA VF is the next big thing! Her pedigree is flooded with high performance horses. Her
father jumped to 1.60m and her mother to 1.45m. She is a stunning typey mare with a
winner’s heart. Correct in her conformation, elastic movement, quick reflexes, shape and
scope through the jump chute. This mare has an exciting sport career ahead of her and her
bloodlines would make a great addition to any breeding program.

Sire: DALLAS competes at the top level of sport with Jur Vrieling and his oldest offspring who are
just 8-years old this year are already showing a lot of success in the young horse
championships with multiple offspring at the 1.40-1.45m level. A notable son, Dacantos, is
approved GOV and was sold for 950,000 Euro as a young horse. Dallas is by the great Darco
son Douglas and his dam side is Heartbreaker x Mr Blue. He has huge scope, combined with
bravery and carefulness which he passes on to his offspring.
Dam: EDEA combines some of the greats of showjumping and has no less than six GP stallions in a
row, including Indorado, Corland and Ramiro. She herself was retained as a broodmare and I-
Edea is her oldest offspring. With the combination of Dallas and Edea’s bloodlines you have
some of the greatest stallions of show jumpers of the past 25 years, all in one pedigree!
Notes: I-EDEA is a long lined, tall, impressive mare who carried one foal herself before her import,
as well as producing an outstanding filly by Tacorde via embryo transfer which KVF will retain.
She has competed up to the 1.10m in Canada and shows plenty of ability to easily become a
very competitive 1.30m+ horse as well as a top EQ horse. I-Edea is straightforward to ride
and goes in a simple snaffle, she is very brave and is always willing to work. Through COVID
she has been gaining more valuable miles on the flat, hacking in the field alone or in groups
and jump schooling. If you are looking for a talented, scopey horse with a great pedigree and
excellent temperament, I-Edea is your horse.

Sire: BON BALOU was licensed Hanoverian in Verden in 2008. In 2009 Bon Balou won and placed
in young horse classes. Also in 2009 Bon Balou successfully competed his 30 day test at
Neustadt (Dosse), with very good scores in all categories. He is a modern-framed horse with
outstanding jumping ability combined with excellent, active paces as well as an excellent
temperament. He was named the Jumper Champion at the 70-day stallion test at Silver Creek
Farm in OK, scoring an impressive 125.04 for 1st place. He was also 3rd overall. He had
amazing scores in jumping, rideablilty 10 (which means both test riders scored him a 10 on
rideability and show jumping ability), free-jumping 10, scope 9.5, canter 9, cross country
gallop 9.0, character 9, willingness to work 9. Bon Balou showed a very well-rounded test
putting up big jumping scores as well as very good gait scores. He also showed very good
       rideability and a good mind.
Dam: WYSTERRA has produced many beautiful foals and is a pleasure to ride and to handle.
Notes: BELLISSIMA II is a Premium CWB mare by the late Bon Balou. She inherited her sire’s
temperament and athleticism. She was schooling 1.0m with changes and level 2 dressage
before having a year off to have her stunning colt by A Fine Romance xx, who is one of
Canada’s prominent Sport Horse stallions with outstanding international bloodlines for both
the TB racing and equestrian sport world. A Fine Romance passes on his beauty, great
movement, jumping ability and honest and brave temperament. This colt has the template for
greatness. Bellissima II is also approved with Canadian Sport Horse Assoc and for the main
mare book for both the Hanoverian and Oldenburg registry. Her colt can be registered
Canadian Warmblood, Canadian Sporthorse, or Oldenburg.
Don't miss out on this great package, Bellissima II is ready to get back into training, or to be
Bred, and the Colt will be a great addition to anyones program.

Sire: ATLAS is an impressive horse, by Aquilan Calypso out of our grand prix mare Arielka
(Argentinius x Darco x Nimmerdor), both his parents are so impeccably bred and were so
extremely successful in their own. Atlas, is no less impressive, in both his presence and his
quality. In September 2016, Atlas was the high scoring stallion at the CWHBA stallion
inspection, earning himself a license with them. He has since matured in to an exceptional
horse that shows both tremendous suspension in movement and amazing scope and
technique. So far his foals have been little copies of their sire.
Dam: LOLLIPOP "Lolli" is one of our home bred mares by the stallion Leeto Z. Beautiful, correct
conformation, powerful and elegant movement, combined with incredible scope make him an
all-around exceptional athlete. Although, perhaps his best feature, is his intelligent and
engaging personality that not only makes him a brave and willing partner, but also a quick
learner and simple straight forward ride. Lolli has all of these positive attributes of her sire.
She is young and only now starting her sport career, but has both the movement and the jump
to be a high end hunter.
Notes: ABIRA is a beautiful filly, with long legs and confident presence. She is smart, willing and
engaged. As a yearling, we haven’t done much in the way of work. We believe in letting them
mature physically before they start any real training, however she leads well, stands for farrier,
tolerates being braided and in general is an easy horse to work around. Her jump is correct
and brave. Her movement is powerful but balanced. She will make an excellent prospect for
any or all rings. This seller will include with purchase transport to Vancouver Area, Edmonton
       or Calgary

Sire: QUICKSTAR IV CH (Quickstar x Zeus) is a registered Swiss, licensed Swedish and RPSI.
Carries a FEI, show experience is limited. A son has competed in the 1.30m and 1.40m. Sired
by the infamous Quick Star, who has sired numerous recognized show jumpers, and is
currently 67 on the Rolex Stallion rankings for show jumpers. Dam, Heiderose, is by Zeus.
Zeus produced 21 licensed stallions, 892 out of 2000 registered sport horse descendants won
DM4.5 million while 46 mares were crowned with the State Premium Title. On the WBFSH
rankings from 1990 to 2000, Zeus was ranked 6th with 34 representatives.
Dam: JUANITA II (Derroche del Juncal x Ru), Sired by Derroche del Juncal, this Colombian
warmblood made his way into the warmblood registry through his performance history and his
known European ancestry. Many people will recognize Derroche del Juncal as Don Juan, a
horse that was seldom beaten. RU, a tall elegant grey mare, sired by RABINO (RAMIRO). RU
was destined to the show ring, but had an unfortunate accident prior to showing, hence
retiring to the broodmare band, but has been a successful producer of champion foals.
Notes: QUINNEL DR (Quickstar iV CH x Juanita II) is an extravagant, playful, energetic, inquisitive
foal catches the eyes of all on the sidelines, with his athleticism and his jeux de vive.
Emulating his grandsire QUICKSTAR, he should be a contender for the most competitive rings

Sire: DICONTENDRO unites top Holsteiner breeding as he is Diarado-Contendro-Caletto. He
scored a 9 for jumping and all 8’s for his gaits at his licencing. He was imported to Canada as
a young horse then presented to Canadian Warmblood where he received a 9 for jumping
and all 8’s on his gaits. Although he had a late start in sport, he is now in a competitive
program, showing 1.15m his first season and progressing quickly. He has excellent scope and
       temperament.
Dam: KAISERS ESPRIT is by Kaiser de La Cour who was champion at his licencing and excelled in
young jumper classes before competing to 1.60m level. He finished his career in the junior
equitation ring, a testament to his rideability. Kaiser’s damline has produced many top
sporthorses. Esprit’s pedigree brings a strong mix of French and Hannoverian jumping talent
through Verdi and Goya. Esprit is a tall large framed mare who passes on her height, easy
      temperament and good jump.
Notes: ESTELLE FF is a lovely prospect for the jumper or equitation ring. She is a tall filly who will
mature in the 16.2 range. She has a big step and balanced way of going. She has a calm,
kind temperament and is a gentle sensitive type who bonds with her handler. She will do very
well in a dedicated partnership and gives all the indication that she will excel under saddle.
She is not reactive or spooky and has been well handled. She has lived out and in and trailers
       well.

Sire: GREY FLANELL combines very interesting bloodlines and a brilliant type with three
exceptional gaits. He is now competing at the Grand Prix level and is impressing with his
outstanding walk, enormous power from behind and his overall quality. His offspring have
been highly regarded in Germany with several licensed sons and multiple daughters being
awarded elite status. They have been very well received at auction as well, with a daughter
selling for 165,000 Euro in 2019.
Dam: UMINKA competed in the 1.20m jumpers with a Jr rider and has produced both very talented
dressage and jumping horses. All of her offspring have been amateur produced, she has one
who competed to 3rd level dressage, another who did the 1.15m jumpers before becoming a
Para Dressage horse, and another who is a much-loved hunter. Uminka has the same mother-
line as Totilas so it is no surprise that her offspring are multi-talented.
Notes: O’FLANELL is a gorgeous black gelding who has been inspected with GOV and received
good comments from the judging panel including ‘good active use of the hindleg and a very
balanced and uphill canter. O’Flanell was bred with the amateur rider in mind, combining the
dressage talent of Grey Flanell and adding the good amateur rideability and jump from
Uminka. He shows very uphill and balanced movement with an impressive jump, he will excel
in the event world with his great movement combined with his good instincts through the jump
chute. O’Flanell has been well handled for all routine vet and farrier work. He has been
allowed to grow up in a herd with his peers learning proper herd dynamics and respect. The
full sister to O’Flanell was sold to a top dressage barn.

Sire: CONTIFAX had a long, successful show jumping career in Europe at the international level
including a World Cup victory. In Europe, he was approved for breeding by the Oldenburg
Verband and Westphalia. Contifax is by the famous CONTENDER and out of a dam by
RITUAL. CONTENDER became completely convincing as a sire at the 2006 Holsteiner
approvals with five approved sons. Ritual comes from the famous 776 mare line, with
RAMIRO as Sire of the Century. Upon arrival in North America, Contifax proved his versatility
and rideability, quickly taking top honours in the hunter ring. 2015 was a winning season for
Contifax as Champion of multiple Canadian Hunter Derby Series events including the $15,000
RMSJ Hunter Derby. He finished as both Canadian Hunter Derby Series Western Canadian
Champion, Canadian National Regular Season Champion, and Jump Alberta's Hunter Horse
       of the Year.
Dam: WASKANA is a beautiful mare with successful extensive show experience at various ‘A’ circuit
shows up to 1.30m. Waskana demonstrates scope, power, athleticism and perfect technique
in her jump style. Waskana unfortunately retired from sport due to injury.
Notes: Cora is a wonderful hunter/jumper prospect out of a KWPN mare by the stallion Contifax I
(Holst) . She has been lightly started under saddle and is ready to continue her training.

Sire: HITCHCOCK VAN OVERIS has competed at 1.50m level with an amateur. He demonstrates
top-level scope, carefulness, and technique and passes on his natural balance, big easy
canter, and incredible rideability to his offspring. His sire is the prolific stallion DARCO who,
for 5 consecutive years, led the World Breeding Federation of sport horse ranking as the best
jumping horse progenitor. He currently has the most offspring that have competed at Grand
Prix level. It is a record which no single sire has ever achieved since the ranking was
developed in 1995. Moreover, Darco is one of the few sires of the present ranking who
previously appeared in the original rankings from 1995. In other words, he has been at the top
for more than 15 years. All reason enough to assume that Darco is the best jumping horse
       progenitor ever in show jumping.
Dam: CLIP CLOP is Valleyfield Farm’s top producing mare. All of Clip Clop’s offspring have sold
very well across North America and have gone on to have successful sport careers in both the
hunter and jumper rings. She consistently produces beautiful foals with correct conformation,
excellent movement, and very easy, willing attitudes making them suitable for riders of all
      levels and ambitions.
Notes: JAM VF is a striking long lined, correct filly. At the age of 2, she has demonstrated her willing,
kind disposition and eagerness to please. She will make a wonderfull sport partner, and is
suitable for anyone looking to develop and bring along a young horse on their own or for the
first time. Dam produced a high seller and reserve high seller in the Fall Classic Sale Ellie
       May and Darling Diana!!
