EMPOWER GROWTH WITH CLOUD CIS + CLOUD-BASED TECH — 6 P.M. ET/ 3 P.M. PT
Customer service expectations have been redefined by market leaders, including Amazon, Apple, and Uber, to name
but a few. These companies have moved from reacting to predicting customer needs; to serve customers through
the channel of their choice, to enable customers to help themselves, and provide visibility into fulfillment processes
effectively. These customer service visionaries optimize the customer’s experience, satisfaction, and brand identity,
while simultaneously reducing costs to serve. They realize the strategic benefit of driving increased capacity for
reinvestment and innovation, creating a virtuous cycle. Having experienced what 21st-century customer service feels
like, today’s consumers expect it from all their service providers, including utilities. Time after time, utilities fall short in
delivering the experience their customers expect and deserve, which leads to overspending on strategies that are not
going to get the job done. This session will discuss where utilities could be struggling to deliver innovation and the
newest option to help them get out of the rut and transform into a utility of the future.

     Speaker:
Eduardo Alzate Jaramillo - Chief Financial Officer, Efigas
     Moderator:
Hernando Parrott - President, Open International

realized it was not acceptable to wait two years to deliver for their customers. EMWD creatively organized their CIS
replacement project to complete the rapid implementation of new customer self-service capability -- literally from
initiation to go-live — within just seven months. Not only was this a win for their customers, but it also paid dividends
operationally in meeting the increased need for online access due to the dramatic impact of COVID-19.

MEETING CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS + DELIVERING VALUE — 3 P.M. ET/ 12 P.M. PT
Over the past decade, the expectations of customers have shifted drastically. We have rapidly become a mobile-
first, digital society, and water utilities must embrace the 'always-on' customer. South Central Connecticut Regional
Water Authority saw these shifts in expectations as an opportunity to innovate and revolutionize the customer
experience. They partnered with VertexOne to implement a powerful suite of solutions that gave staff access to robust
engagement solutions and a complete offering of self-service tools for customers. RWA also wanted to rethink its
portfolio of services, which lead to the development of VertexOne Product Advantage, which gives customers access
to additional services and products from their utility. RWA has become an exemplary model that utilities should never
become complacent and consistently re-evaluate what it means to be a top-tier utility.

DTE GROWS BY OFFERING NEW PRODUCTS AND SERVICES — 3 P.M. ET/ 12 P.M. PT
DTE was challenged by the resources required to offer new, innovative products and services for its customers.
It would cost $1M-$2M in its legacy environment and take six to nine months to create an offering, challenging
the notion of gaining a benefit beyond the initial investment. Ultimately, DTE wanted to make it possible for the
business to develop and offer new products and services in three months or less. “Every DTE product or service
offering can’t be a custom solution,” says Mark Blaszkiewicz, IT Business Relationship Manager and Customer
Cloud Platform Manager at DTE. DTE opted to implement SAP’s Commerce Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Billing &
Revenue Innovation Management solution to enable customers to self-enroll in the new offerings. With this new
standardized solution, the business can create and deploy a new offering themselves and no longer have to include
“waiting for the technology” as part of the launch timeframe. New capabilities have substantially increased the
speed at which they can do business.
