HISTORY
The Incarnate Word Foundation is a
ministry of the Sisters of Charity of
the Incarnate Word (CCVI).
IWF was formed from the sale of
Incarnate Word Hospital in 1997.
We continue to live the Sisters’
charism of Incarnational Spirituality
in all we do.MISSION

Alongside our annual grant cycle, we launch
and engage various, large initiatives, such as:
• STL Youth Jobs
• St. Joseph Housing Initiative
• St. Louis Art Place Initiative
• Children & Youth InitiativeWhat We Fund
• IWF 2021 funding will support work with:
Youth
Homelessness
Food Insecurities
Senior Health & Wellness
Literacy and Learning Loss
Environmental Justice
• We value innovation and collaboration and hope to see those concepts in the
implementation of the services and projects that are funded in 2021.2021 General Operating Grant
Goals: Spark collaboration and build relationships while funding organizations serving or
advocating for the most vulnerable in our city.
Ideal Agency to be Funded:

• Has strong relationships and partnerships with other organizations in the community
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to the work and the community in which they serve
• Approaches their work with innovation and strategic thinking
• Is in the St. Louis Region: City, County, and East St. Louis
• Holds 501(c)(3) status in good standing.
These funds are to be used for General Operating support. We will not be evaluating
applications on a project basis, but rather an overall organization basis.2021 General Operating Grant Details
Maximum Grant Award: $10,000
Geographic Area: St. Louis Region including St. Louis City & County and East St. Louis
Application Timeline:
• Grant Cycle Opens: April 1, 2021
• Letter of Intent (LOI) Due: May 7, 2021
• Invitation to submit full application, if approved: June 1, 2021
• Full application due: July 1, 2021
• We will start reviewing applications as soon as they are received. Phone calls and/or site visits
with IWF staff, and possibly IWF Board/Committee Members, will be scheduled.
• Notification of funding: October 1, 2021
• Grants awarded: December 2021
• Annual Follow Up Due: November 2022Grant Application Requirements Please pay close attention to the questions and requested documentation on the application. You must submit the following financial information to be considered. If this information is incomplete or outdated your application will not be reviewed. • Completed W-9 - Signed AND Dated with the CURRENT YEAR (2021) • 2020 Form 990 - If a request for an extension was filed and approved, upload the OFFICIAL IRS APPROVAL for extension (not the request that was sent to them). If your organization is not required to file a Form 990, please explain in a word document and upload that. • Current IRS FEDERAL Letter of Determination indicating tax-exempt status. Please do not substitute the State sales tax letter. It will not be accepted.
Updates to the Grant Application
• In the event your organization
is awarded funding from the Incarnate Word
Foundation, the grant contract will be embedded within the full application. This
eliminates the need for grantees to complete and submit an additional form.
• A request for policy information and questions regarding child abuse and neglect
