Great Graduate Prospects, and
Gateway to ChinaBe CREATIVE
Committed to exploring the
transformational power of arts and
culture on society, HKBU offers a
number of programmes across
creative domains including
Creative Writing, Film, Game Design
& Animation, Music, Screen Studies,
TV and Visual Arts enriched by a
network of 50 interest clubs devoted
to ignite the creativity of students.
Paulina Alonso (Mexico) Visual Arts | Year 2
Our teachers always encourage us to share our own ideas and thoughts. They
guide us through the creative process and help us find ways to bring to life the
visions in our heads. Studying Visual Arts so far from home is a great experience
itself. Here I’m surrounded by a stimulating environment that inspires me to
create new artworks. Artists need to have different experiences in order to tell a
story through their artwork. This opportunity to live in Hong Kong for sure helps
me achieve that.
Be INNOVATIVE
Dedicated to helping students think
in new ways, nurture innovations and
develop as entrepreneur, HKBU tests
our student’s limit via opportunities
ranging from entrepreneurship
bootcamps, startup programme
held with the Sutardja Center for
Entrepreneurship and Technology of
University of California, Berkeley, and
specialised programmes and
awards in fields of Social Sciences
and Visual Arts.
Amos Seng (Singapore) Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine | Year 2
Last summer, I worked as a student intern in my Professor's research laboratory,
where I was able to apply theories and knowledge that I have learnt in classroom to
the discovery and testing of new medicinal compounds. The real-life applications
and research experiences allow me to develop critical and analytical thinking skills.
I am proud to receive training for being a pharmaceutical professional through
HKBU's unique East-meets-West approach, where traditional Chinese Medicine is
combined with modern research and development techniques.Be GLOBAL
Seeking to nurture global citizens who
transcend cultures, HKBU encourages
students to personally experience the
reality of globalisation by joining our
overseas internships, exchange
programmes or service-learning
opportunities. Our series of
international conferences, worldwide
competitions and national
performances also give students the
opportunity to engage with peers
from around the world.
Rustam Juraev (Tajikistan) Applied Economics | Year 4
I was given the opportunity to participate in one of the biggest Model
United Nations Conferences in Madrid, Spain, with more than 2000
participants from over 110 countries, as a representative of HKBU. It was a
valuable experience participating in debates and negotiations with fellow
students from around the globe, especially as a “delegate” representing
the interests of a particular region in a simulated setting. Furthermore, it was
a perfect chance for me to make friends from different parts of the world.
Be CARING
Beyond big dreams and innovative
ideas, HKBU believes that being
connected with one’s community is
also key to leading a meaningful life.
Our service-learning opportunities
invite students to explore other parts
of the world and witness the
profound transformative impact that
their caring can have on people
and communities.
Yerkegali Zhamalbekov (Kazakhstan) Computer Science | Year 3
HKBU offers numerous opportunities for students to exhibit caring and concern to
people in need. I had a chance to educate children at a local elementary
school in Ubud during a service trip in Bali arranged by the Undergraduate Halls.
I immersed myself into the local culture and customs, engaged in activities with
children as a caring teacher, and took part in some renovation work in a local
village as a volunteer. This experience helps me understand the meaning of life
and the importance of mutual support and respect among people.PROGRAMMES ON OFFER
