A holiday for everyone. New forms of accessible tourims

Tourism represents a fundamental sector for the Italian economy thanks to the enormous variety of landscapes and cultures present in our
territory and the geographical conditions. In recent years, the open-air accommodation sector (villages, camping, glamping) has been
growing both in terms of size and quality, an increasingly important element for the success of an activity that is part of a global market of
increasingly competitive tourism. Only recently have the themes of architecture, understood as relationships with the existing context and
landscape, as the construction of a place and as a response to the expressed or implicit needs of society, are involving the open-air tourism
sector characterized in the past mainly from the spontaneity of the tourism offer.
New issues of the contemporary world, such as ecology, security and inclusion, require current responses to meet new forms of tourism
that are attentive to the needs of an increasingly heterogeneous public.

Starting from these premises, the Winter School “A holiday for everyone. New forms of accessible tourism “intends to launch a reflection
that involves the world of research and training and important subjects operating in the world of tourism and associations, to promote a
new form of sustainable quality tourism able to meet the needs of families with disabilities. Designing “a holiday for everyone” means star-
ting from the diversity of each subject, not only those with a form of disability but also those who live together and who encounter difficul-
ties in accessing services and pursuing dreams of normality in their daily experience that of being able to spend a holiday in the open air.

«The idea is to create an accommodation facility, open all year round, which allows families with the disabled to be able to take vacation
without giving up therapies for the person with disabilities. Thus also guaranteeing local people a continuous rehabilitation service.
We start from the fundamental assumption that the well-being of the disabled person is inextricably linked to the well-being of his family
and the community in which he lives. Helping the person means helping the family. There are no other ways to make the aid action stable,
meaningful, effective and widespread » (Il Sogno Spettacoloso)

«We are the opposite of the standard and when I say we I mean each of us. In fact, we are all different in our own way. Personally I be-
lieve that we should speak of design for each, or rather of “design for each of us”. If we can value everyone’s diversity, then we will keep
everyone together. The phenomenon we have been recording in recent years is the awareness of diversity as a value. And this is the value
that makes the difference » (Paolo Brescia - Archidiversity)
