Golden Eagle feathers are sacred within American Indian traditions, and represent honesty,
strength, courage, and freedom. These characteristics are embodied in the attributes of cancer
patients undergoing treatment: honesty in accepting the diagnosis, and strength and courage in
embracing the treatment protocol, with the ultimate hope of realizing freedom from the disease.

Dear Sweetheart Auction Patrons:

Welcome! It is our pleasure to welcome you to
                                       the 16th Annual Cancer Foundation
                                       for New Mexico’s Sweetheart Auction!

For the past fifteen years we have met in person for an evening that
has become one of Santa Fe’s most popular events. Last February, 900
guests packed the Santa Fe Community Convention Center for food, wine,
conviviality, and most importantly an opportunity to support the work of the
Foundation through a silent and live auction, and a paddle raiser.

While it’s challenging to replicate that festive spirit through an online
event – we’re doing our darndest to do just that! In addition to sharing the
customary patient and provider stories, and honorary and memorial tributes,
we’ve added celebrity appearances and performances created especially
for the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico’s virtual event. With our online
accessibility, we are excited to reach many new supporters who can join us
from afar – welcome to the family!

We want to thank our magnanimous business and individual sponsors for
helping to make this virtual event possible. Even during the pandemic, our
generous community item donors have made this virtual silent auction, at
425 auction lots strong, one of our most spectacular!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in producing this multi-faceted
program, and especially our Steering Committee Chaired by Larri Short,
which has worked alongside our dedicated staff.

Now delve into the silent auction and BID, and DONATE – knowing that
a remarkable 85% of every dollar spent by the Cancer Foundation for
New Mexico is dedicated to patient programming and services!

Thank you and enjoy!

Supporting Northern New Mexico’s
                                        Cancer Patients
To start and complete treatment is the first step to survival for a cancer
patient. Working with our donors, we help to save the lives of our neighbors
here in northern New Mexico. Patients are able to begin their cancer treatment
confident that they will be supported until their treatment is completed. It is
with the financial contributions of our generous donors that we have been able
to keep our promise… no patient who qualifies financially for our services will
ever be turned away.

In the past year, the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico accomplished the
following with 2020 Sweetheart Auction Revenue:
• Supported 28,841 patient visits*
• Reimbursed 473,323 transportation miles
• Provided 727 lodging nights
• Supplied 1,372 grocery cards to enable patients to eat nutritionally while
  they are undergoing treatment
• To all cancer patients, regardless of financial need, CFFNM offered support
groups and volunteer hospitality during treatment
*Please note: Due to COVID-19 protocols, telehealth visits have supplemented in-person visits for many patients.

                                                                                      Expense Allocation

Richard Lampert
Richard Lampert returns to the
Cancer Foundation for New Mexico’s
Sweetheart Auction as Master of
Ceremonies, having served as its
Auctioneer for over a decade.

Zaplin Lampert Gallery partners
Richard Lampert and Mark Zaplin
(1952-2014) grew up together in
Massachusetts. In 1972, in the
basement of a Boston bookstore,
they discovered a large collection
of photographs by the legendary
Edward S. Curtis. This trove of
images, from Curtis’s thirty-year
project documenting the American
Indian, led Richard and Mark to the
West and to their careers as dealers
in fine art.

After settling in Santa Fe in 1977,
they traveled the United States
as private art dealers, exhibiting the Curtis works at museums and private
institutions. As their business grew, their interests and expertise expanded
to include historic paintings and works on paper by the pioneering artist/
explorers of the American West, including such names as George Catlin, Karl
Bodmer, Alfred Jacob Miller, Thomas Moran, and Albert Bierstadt.

Zaplin Lampert Gallery opened its doors in June of 1987 on Santa Fe’s
historic Canyon Road. The gallery quickly gained recognition as a premiere
source for the works of the early artists of the Taos Society of Artists and the
Santa Fe Art Colony, and for American paintings of the nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries. It has also established itself as a primary resource for
collectors of the celebrated New Mexico printmakers Gustave Baumann
and Gene Kloss.
