MEYRIN PREVESSIN
• Good start of the year, drop due to Covid-19. • Higher occupancy in Schumann due to longer
• Cancellation of public visits and groups until end stays, cost and kitchen facilities compliant with

• Out of order rooms overall decrease in line with
low occupancy of rooms. Major increase in June

HOUSING: COVID-19 Impact SMB
Safety measures enforced:
Shared rooms and common sanitary facilities closed;
Rooms without bath closed;
One empty room between two rented rooms;
Kitchen facilities closed;
One person only allowed in twin rooms
Purge plan implemented for showerheads and faucet (health precaution against legionella due to underuse)

Quarantine (French and Swiss list) is not allowed at CERN hotel
Residence Schumann in Saint Genis only applies French list -> quarantine for countries only on Swiss list is

Off-site CERN apartments rental depending on availability, standard conditions and rates apply.

HOUSING: B.38 Renovation project SMB
BUILDING 38 – Renovation Project
REMINDER -> The scope covers the following fields:
Security upgrade (safety lighting, fire detection; evacuation sound system)
Electricity (cabling and lighting) and HVAC (system upgrade);
Sanitary renovation;
Interior renovation of the rooms and corridors (painting, flooring)
Procurement process -> Contracts and orders being placed
Execution of works started as planned on 15.06.2020. Due to be finished by
30.06.2021.
Works are proceeding efficiently and floors 4 and 5 might re-open by mid-January 2021,
provided all security and sanitary measures are implemented to prevent epidemiological
risks between clients and workers;
Three new boilers are being installed to solve the previous recurrent problems with the
heating and hot water system;
Replacement of the furniture on floors 0,1,2 and 3 are currently being reviewed.

Sanitary measures implementation in R2, R3 and cafeterias:
• Physical distance of 2 m -> major decrease in seating capacities
• Mandatory use of masks, except when eating
• Use of an alcohol-based hand sanitiser before entering the free-flow and when collecting
orders
• Respect circulation flows
• Work meetings and private gatherings not allowed
• Protective screens installed at cashier points
• Reinforced cleaning and disinfection
To be implemented:
• Information on tables related to maximum number of person per table, seats’ location &
safety rules reminder
Contingency plan in place in case of Covid-19 case within Novae
staff

• Reserve team to replace part or all regular team in potential quarantine

COVID-19 reinforced cleaning measures remain enforced
Standard frequencies:
Daily: All common spaces, entrance, corridors, circulation, toilets, restaurant, kindergarden,
conference rooms
Weekly: Offices
Monthly : Workshops
As needed: Each individual is in charge of the disinfection of his workstation, phone, IT
equipments, tools, machines, etc. (for individual workspace and shared spaces (shifts, open space,

• Low activity this summer due to COVID-19
and various summer programs cancellations
-> Only 20% of the bike fleet in use during
this period
• Bike rental policy maintained: Mobility
services retrieved bikes on behalf of users
before deadline to avoid payment of rental
fees
• Less out of order bikes compared to last

• Car exchange on CERN site ongoing
Despite the sanitary situation we managed to keep an acceptable level of car exchanges (old vs new one): 80% of
new cars delivered at CERN have been distributed so far
